In Britain you're allowed to drive a car when you're seventeen. You have to get a special two-year driving license before you can start. When you're learning, someone with a full license always has to be in the car with you because you aren't allowed to drive the car on the road alone. You don't have to go to a driving school — a friend can teach you. The person with you isn't allowed to take money for the lesson unless he's got a teacher's license.
Before you're allowed to have a full license, you have to take a driving test. You can take a test in your own car, but it has to be fit for the road. In the test you have to drive round for about half an hour and then answer a few questions. If you don't pass the test, you're allowed to take it again a few weeks later if you want to. In 1970 a woman passed her fortieth test after 212 driving lessons! When you've passed your test, you don't have to take it again, and you're allowed to go on driving as long as you like. Britain's oldest driver was a man who drove in 1974 at the age of 100.
Before 1904 everyone was allowed to drive, even children. Then from 1904 car drivers had to have a license. But they didn't have to take a test until 1935. On the early days of car driving, before 1878, cars weren't allowed to go faster than four miles an hour, and someone had to lead the car with a red flag.

    Only a few days ago, the first China Huafu Day was held to encourage young Chinese people to wear and take pride in(以..为傲) hanfu, the traditional clothing of the Han ethnic group(汉族)

    The organizers said, "Traditional culture is the lifeblood of China. We hope young Chinese people can wear our traditional clothing during festivals to show China's unusual culture to the world. This will also make them understand the culture better and feel proud(自豪的) of being a Chinese." The event invited people to post their pictures in traditional clothes. By April 22nd 2018. it had already got over 155 million page views, with thousands of people sharing their pictures.

    Historically, hanfu has influenced (影响) many of the neighboring cultural clothing including the Japanese Kimono and Korean Hanbok. However, hanfu started to fade (衰弱) when Manchu people took control of China. Luckily, there has been a rise in popularity (普及) over recent years. According to Hanfu Information (HI), a hanfu promotion (宣传) group, over 21,000 sets of hanfu were sold online earlier this year. Another online survey by HI in 2017 showed that over 88% of people believe that wearing hanfu is a good way to learn about Chinese culture. It's true that the number of hanfu fans is growing.

    The organizers say they will make China Huafu Day a yearly event and they have set the third day of the third month of the traditional Chinese calendar as the date of the event?

    Green is an important color in nature. It is the color of grass and the leaves on trees. It is also the color of most growing plants.

    Sometimes, the word "green" means young, fresh and growing. For example, a greenhorn is someone who has no experience. In the 15th century, a greenhorn was a young cow or an ox whose horns(角) had not yet developed. A century later, a greenhorn was a soldier who had no experience in war. By the 18th century, a greenhorn had the meaning it has today—a person who is new in a job.

    Someone who is good at growing plants is said to have a green thumb(大拇指). The expression comes from the early 20th century. A person with a green thumb can make plants grow quickly and well. The Green Revolution (绿色革命) is the name given some years ago to the development of new kinds of rice and other grains. It was the result of hard work by agricultural scientists who had green thumbs.

    Green is also the color used to describe the powerful feeling—jealousy(嫉妒). The green eyed monster is not a dangerous animal from outer space. It is an expression used about 400 years ago by the British writer William Shakespeare in his play Othello. It describes the unpleasant feeling when someone has something he wants.

    In most places in the world, a green light is a signal(信号) to move ahead. In everyday speech, a green light means approval(赞成) to continue with a project.

    The Spring Festival was on February 7th this year. Because Spring Festival is the most important festival in China, so my parents cleaned and decorated(装饰)our house with me before spring festival. We also bought lots of things in the supermarket.

    On the eve 'of the Spring Festival, we had a big dinner. After dinner, I put on my new clothes, then my father, my mother and I went to the Flower Fairs. Wow! There were lots of kinds of flowers in the Flower Fairs, they were lilies, tulips, peach flowers..., how colorful and beautiful they were! So we took some photos here. We bought some flowers, then we went home happily: We watched TV until midnight. At twelve o'clock, we cheered to welcome the new year and wished each other good luck.

    During Spring Festival I got lots of lucky money, so my favorite festival is Spring Festival. I hope every day is Spring Festival.
