We know the mosquito very well. Mosquitoes fly everywhere. They can be found almost all over the world, and there are more, than 2, 500 kinds of them.

No one likes the mosquito. But the mosquito may decide that she loves you. She? Yes, she. It's true that male mosquito doesn't bite and only the female mosquito bites because she needs blood to lay eggs. She is always looking for things or people she wants to bite. If she likes what she finds, she bites. But if she doesn't like your blood, she will turn to someone else for more delicious blood. Next time a mosquito bites you, just remember you are chosen. You're different from the others!

    If the mosquito likes you, she lands on your body without letting you know. She bites you so quickly and quietly that you may not feel anything different. After she bites, you will have an itch(痒) on your body because she puts something from her mouth together with your blood. By the time the itching begins, and she has flown away.

And then what happens? Well, after her delicious dinner, the mosquito feels tired. She just wants to find a place to have a good rest. There, on a leaf or a wall, she begins to lay eggs, hundreds of eggs.

    Many people think the camel stores water in its hump (驼峰), but it does not. Instead, the camel stores something else there—food. The camel's hump is really a hump of fat (脂肪). The camel is often called "a ship of the desert". When the camel is not travelling and is in a place where there is much food and water, it eats and drinks a lot. As it does so, its hump rises from the fat its body makes. Then, when the camel is travelling through the desert and when there is no food, it can live off the stored fat.

    A camel can go on for days or weeks with little food or water. However, when its hunger reaches the starvation (饿死)point, its hump shrinks (收缩) and may even slip off its back and hang down its side.

    Camels are not fussy (挑剔的) about what they eat. Thorny (多刺的) plants don't hurt their mouths, grass of any kind will do and so will hay, dry grain and cactuses (干草, 干粮, 仙人掌).

There are one­ hump camels and two­ hump camels. Camels with one hump are called Arabian camels. They come from North Africa. Camels with two humps are from Asia.

    We need animals. Every animal has its place in the balance(平衡) of nature. We should try to help save the animals.

    Some people think zoos are good places. The zoos give the animals the comfortable and safe living places. If the animals get hurt or ill, people will take care of them. The zoo is a good place to know the rules in the wild world. We can be much closer to nature. We can know more about the animals in the zoos by watching, listening even smelling instead of just looking at the pictures in books.

    Some people don't think animals feel happy in the zoos. Animals like pandas, wolves and bears usually live in the wild. They play and find food by themselves. They are free and happy in the wild. If they are in the zoos, food is enough and rooms are comfortable. They do not need to do their best to find food to eat or places to stay in. They just walk around, sleep day and night, but they are not free at all.

    I think we should build national parks as wild life nature reserves to protect animals. If we do nothing, animals will get fewer and fewer.

    Lately, people have entered the forests where chimpanzees live. The chimpanzees have been getting sick because of people's diseases. In addition, people are hunting chimpanzees. Their number is becoming smaller and smaller.

    Chimpanzees live in the plains and forests of Africa. They eat many kinds of foods, from plant leaves and seeds to insects and even other small animals. Chimpanzees' favourite food is fruit.

    Chimpanzees are very clever and they can use tools well. They can catch bugs by using sticks, and break nuts by using rocks.

    The world's forests are much smaller than they were before. Roads were built in deep forests, so people start to enter the forests where chimpanzees live. That may lead to many problems. One problem for chimpanzees is that they can easily catch people's diseases and die.

Chimpanzees are much closer to people than monkeys.

    As it's easier for people to enter forests, they hunt more often. Young chimpanzees are caught to be pets or for scientific research. The young ones are taken away from the forests, and the adults are killed. Chimpanzees are likely to disappear in the future.
