In today's world, almost everyone knows that air pollution and water pollution are harmful to people. However, not all the persons know that noise is also a kind of pollution, and that is harmful to human, too.

People who work and live under noisy conditions usually become deaf(聋的). Today, however, scientists believe that 10 percent (百分比) of workers in Britain are being deafened by the noise where they work. Many of the workers who print newspapers and books, and who weave(织) cloth become deaf. Quite a few people living near airports also become deaf. Recently(近来) it was discovered that many teenagers in America could hear no better than 65-year-old people, for these young people like to listen to "pop" music and most of "pop" music is a kind of noise. Besides(除此之外), noise produced by jet planes or machines will make people's life difficult and unpleasant, or even make people ill or even drive them mad.

Nowadays the government in many countries have made laws to reduce or control(控制) noise and make it less than 85 decibels(分贝).  In China, the people's government is trying to solve not only air and water pollution problems but also noise pollution problem.

举一反三
Ask someone what they have done to help the environment recently and they will almost mention recycling, which is the process (过程) of treating used things, such as paper or steel so that they can be used again. Recycling in the home is very important of course. However, being forced to recycle often means we already have more things than we need. We are now dealing with the results of that over-consumption in the possible greenest way, but it would be far better if we did not bring so many things home in the first place.
Here is an example. In the UK, the total of packaging increased by 12% between 1999 and 2005. It now makes up a third of a household's waste. In many supermarkets, foods are packaged twice with plastic and cardboard.
Too much packaging causes serious environmental problems. The UK is running out of different kinds of ways for dealing with this unnecessary waste. If such packaging is burnt, it gives off greenhouse gases which go on to cause the greenhouse effect (效果). Recycling helps, but the process itself uses energy. The best way of avoiding this problem is to stop producing such unnecessary things in the first place. Food waste is another serious problem, too. Too many supermarkets encourage customers (消费者) to buy more than they need. They seldom encourage customers to reuse their plastic bags, for example. However, a few of them are coming round to the idea that this cannot continue.
But this is not just about supermarkets. It is about all of us. We have learned to connect packaging with quality (质量). We have learned to think that something unpackaged is of poor quality. Is it true for all the products? In fact, more and more companies realized the importance of protecting the environment. They try to package what really should be packaged, including products in good quality.
As more of us recycle, we are beginning to realize how many unnecessary things are being collected. We need to face the waste of our daily life. Although many people have taken action to recycle, we have a high mountain to climb.

If you look at the top of your phone, you'll usually see a lite symbol that says 3G or 4G. The "G" is the generation(代)" of your mobile network (移动网络). But these symbols will become things of the past after 5G networks fully arrive.

On March 30, 2019, Shanghai vice mayor (副市长) Wu Qing made the first SG video call on a Huawei Mate x smartphone, CGTN reported. Shanghai has also become the first city in China to start testing 5G networks.

About 100 times faster than 4G networks, 5G will let people download (下载) and upload data (数据) faster than ever before. But 5G won't just bring faster mobile internet. People can use it for many other things as well.

For example, 5G will help to make self-driving cars safer. Today's self-driving test cars have one problem-lag (延迟). When the car "sees" an obstacle (障碍物), it sends this information to a data center and receives instructions (指令).

However, it takes time to send and receive this information. With this kind of lag, the cars might hit each other because they don't receive instructions in time. With 5G, this lag will be greatly lowered (降低), making the cars safer, according to CNN. 5G could also be used to help the internet of things (IoT,物联网). IoT is a large online network that connects all things and people. Fast internet speed will be the key to developing this technology. The IoT could be used in a lot of ways. For example, with IoT, your refrigerator could automatically (自动地) place an order online for eggs when it finds that there are no eggs left inside.
