语法填空

Confucius(孔子) is honored setting the tone for much traditional Chinese music for thousands of years. He(think) to be a music teacher and a (talent) musician who was able to play several instruments expertly. Perhaps for other people around the world, music was meant mainly for amusement. during the time of the Zhou Dynasty about 500BC, music had an important role in making society stable.

How music was used and performed is expressed in several main Confucian books. Confucius taught that (educate) somebody, you should start with poems, emphasize ceremonies, and finish with music.

Musical knowledge was matter of higher learning. It is said that he thought of the six most important (subject) to study, ranking music higher than the other five necessary subjects like writing and mathematics.

Music was so important because the ideal society was to be governed by ritual (礼制) functions, but not by law. In a culture people function according to ritual, music is used to help govern them. So music wasn't really (entertain), but a means for musicians to accomplish political and social goals. Music is (eventual) a means for social happiness.

We've all turned to sad music to make us feel {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (good)at some point in our lives, but why does doubling down on the sadness help drag us out of the mire(泥沼)?

A new study sheds light on what's going on inside our brains {#blank#}2{#/blank#}we match our music to our feelings. It looks like sad music can be enjoyable -rather than {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(simple) depressing- because it triggers positive memories that can help to lift our mood. Psychologist Adrian North from Curtin University in Australia says there {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (be)two groups of possible{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (explain)for why we enjoy listening to sad music like this: one from social psychology, and one from cognitive neuroscience(认知神经学).

In terms of social psychology, one way of {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(think) about this is that we feel much better about {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (we) if we focus on someone who's doing even worse, a process known as downward social comparison. Everything's going to be okay, because this person {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(have) an even worse day than you are.

Another theory from social psychology is that people like to listen {#blank#}9{#/blank#} music that mirrors the tone of their current life circumstances -the songs act as {#blank#}10{#/blank#}sort of tuning fork(音叉) for our own situations and they resonate(共鸣) with us

When an important holiday comes, I usually think of what gifts to buy or prepare for my family members. It is the act itself rather than the thing you buy that {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(matter). Either a small present, a text message or a phone call can mean a lot to the receivers. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, I had never got anything from my son, who is a university student. Parents never forget to celebrate their children's birthday, but their children seem to be very {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (forget). They seldom do something in return.

Life is unpredictable, and you never know what will happen tomorrow. When my son came back during the summer vacation, my wife and I, as usual, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (meet) him at the station. On arriving home, much {#blank#}5{#/blank#} my surprise, my son took out a wrist watch and gave it to me, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (say) it was a birthday gift for me. It is a very fashionable watch, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} shows not only hours, minutes and seconds but days as well. You can imagine how surprised and excited I was at that moment.

Some people say children get too much care and love from their parents and just take them for granted. It is natural for people to have such concerns and {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(worry), but things may not turn out as badly as{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (expect). We need to look more at the positive side of life, as a famous writer once said, "Life is {#blank#}10{#/blank#}best classroom one can never get."
