I used to live selfishly, I should admit. But one moment changed me.

    I was on my lunch break and had 1the office to get something to eat. On the way,  I 2a busker(街头艺人)，with a hat in front of him. I had some 3 in my pocket,  but I would not give them to him,  thinking to myself he would 4 use the money to feed his addiction to drugs or alcohol. He 5like that type—young and ragged.6what was I going to spend the money on?  Only to feed my addiction to Coca-Cola or chocolate!  I then 7I had no right to place myself above8just because he was busking

I 9 and dropped all the coins into his 10 and he smiled at me. I watched for a while. As selfish as it sounds, I 11 something more to come from that moment—a feeling of 12 or satisfaction, for example. But nothing happened.13 I walked off. "It proved to be a waste of 14 "I thought.

    On my way home at the end of the 15 I saw the busker again and he was 16 I watched him pick up the hat and walk17a cafe counter.  There he poured the18contents into a tin collecting19an earthquake fund-raising(募捐) event. He was busking for charity(慈善)！

    Now I donate any 20I have to charity tins and enjoy the feeling of giving.

I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I used to give a lot of money to the homeless, feeling 1 for them. But as time passed, I became a mom with no home, a huge 2, and hardly any income. As a result, I 3 giving money to the people on the side of the road and became very 4. Things started to change for me 5. I had a home, a backyard for my daughter, and plenty of food, and I started to 6 myself out of debt. One day we saw a homeless person with the 7, "Will work for food." I 8. My daughter commented. "Mommy, you used to always give money to those people in 9." I replied, "Honey, they just use that money for 10, or other bad things." She didn't respond. 11 when I said that, I didn't feel right. Three days later, I was driving to 12 my daughter from school. A man was standing on the corner, and something deep 13 me said, "Just help the guy." So I 14 down my window, and he ran over excitedly. He said, "God bless you, I only need 77 cents." I 15 into my ashtray（烟灰缸）and strangely enough, there 16 three quarters and two pennies. I picked them up and gave them to him. He 17 with joy and tears in his eyes. "Wow, you just made it 18 for me to see my mom for Christmas! Thank you so much; the 19 that had this great sale is leaving in 20 minutes!" It was a moment I'll 20 forever. I think that man won't forget it either, but I was the one who got the best gift in life—GIVING.

    Mrs. Jones was over eighty, but she still drove her old car like a woman half her age. She loved driving very fast, and was proud of the fact 1 she had never, in her thirty-five years of driving, been punished 2 a driving offence (犯规，犯法).

    Then one day she nearly3 her record. A police car 4 her, and the policemen in it saw her5 a red light without stopping. Of course, she was stopped. It seemed 6 that she would be punished.

    When the judge had finished what he was 12, Mrs. Jones opened the big handbag she was 13 and took out her sewing. Without saying a word, she 14 a needle with a very small eye, and threaded it at her first attempt.

    When she had 15 done this, she took the thread out of the needle again and handed 16 the needle and the thread to the judge, saying, “Now it is your 17I suppose you drive a car, and that you are quite sure about your own eyesight.”

    The judge took the 18 and tried to thread it. After half a dozen tries, he had still not succeeded. The case (案例) against Mrs. Jones was19, and her record20 unbroken.

    The universe has a way of sending help from even the most unlikely of places.

    When Tony received a wrong-number message on his mobile phone, he could have just 1 it. Instead, he gathered five of his six children and 2 a picture to send to Syd, the girl on the other end of line, just to give her a little 3 However, he had no idea that replying to this random message would 4 his family's life.

    The message was from Syd, who was dress shopping when she decided to get a second 5. So she took a picture of herself in the new dress that she had chosen and sent the message to who she thought was her friend.

    Once the story 11 the web, people discovered that one of Tony's children was 12 from the picture. The youngest child, Kaizler, wasn't home at that time 13 his mom had taken him to his chemotherapy (化疗) appointment.

Once Mandi read about Kaizler's cancer diagnosis, she shared his GoFundMe page, which snowballed into a widespread 14 of giving. Thousands of people have donated to the little boy's page.

    Kaizler's mom says she can't express how 15 her family is for the financial help, and no one can believe this rush of good fortune 16 from a simple wrong-number message!

    “It is so refreshing to be 17 that there are good people in the world who still care about others and are quick to be 18 and kind to others,” she stated, “I would also like to thank EVERYONE from bottom of my heart 19 all the kind words, all the donations, all the love and support. We honestly would never have been able to 20 it this far in our journey without every single of you!”

Running for a Dream

    I will never forget that November day. It was hotter than normal. This was the 1my father and I had waited so long for, because we had been working towards this race for three years. Dozens of familiar faces from church and school flashed across my view. They had come2me. I saw worry and3on my father's face. Then the race began!

    For the first two and a half miles. I felt4.I had never before been so ready for something. The weeks leading up to the race were filled with controlled5and a strict diet. My friends hadn't seen me in weeks, but they understood the6required to make my dream a reality. As in all of my races, I didn't7out in the front, I loved the pleasure of passing people as my strength overtook their premature speed.

    Then without warning, my strength began to decrease. Neck and neck with one of my greatest competitors, I8see the finish line. I had begun the final dash into9when my knees became weak and my legs gave way. Nothing I could do would make them10weight.

    I watched as runners rushed by me.11I knew my dreams of victory were destroyed. I had to finish the race. However, my legs hurt badly. With all of the 12left in me, I got on my hands and knees and crawled （爬）,inch by inch, across the finish line. Voices, both13and familiar, cheered me on. They gave me the courage to keep14until the very end.

    The doctors were there in seconds, but my eyes searched the crowd for him. There was only one person I wanted to15to. I whispered, "I'm so sorry, Dad, I'm so sorry I 16you." He looked at me, saying," You could never disappoint me. Sometimes these things just17.All that matters is that you did your best."

    "But we worked so18.What about our dream？"He reached over for my hand and said, "Don't you know that you are my dream and it has come true？"

It wasn't long before my running shoes were back on, marking a19path for my journey, I learned that all of the miles, the tears, the sweat, and the pain my dad and I experienced together were not for a20.What I realized, though, was that to him ,I was the greatest prize he had ever won.

    "Do I really want to go through with this?" Have you ever asked yourself that 1 ? Sometimes in life, there are moments when you 2 if you will be able to handle the responsibilities ahead of you. For me, these 3 come daily, whether it's taking a test or working. But one Saturday afternoon, my family and I were 4 around when my dad pulled into a small mall. Little did I realize, we were going to a 5 store where a new member would be 6 to our family.

    As my 7 parked our car, I figured we would just take a 8 look and then leave. After a while, my dad called us over. He was standing next to my mom, looking at several 9 . I began to think, "Are we 10 a cat"? My dad asked, "So guys, you like any of these?" My brother said "Yes!" before I could even open my 11 .

    When I pictured feeding the cat, cleaning it and giving it water, all of these responsibilities felt  12 to me. Would I be able to handle it? 13 , I would have to live a more adult-like  14 if I got a cat. Later on, after 15 that we should get a cat, I thought about this new phase of my life. I realized that the 16 I make can affect my future.

    Looking back, I find that I have been able to 17 the responsibility of owning a cat. Some tasks may be 18 , but that doesn't 19 they can't be accomplished. You simply20 to do your best in order to push past them.
