My mother is a junior high school teacher. She (A)_ English.

    My mother gets up at 6 o'clock every day and has breakfast at 6:30 a.m. She always (B)arrives at school at 7:25 a.m. (C)She usually has two lessons in the morning. In the afternoon, she has one lesson. (D)放学后, she plays volleyball with her students.

     (E)_ the evening, she cooks dinner. After dinner, she prepares her lessons. (F)She sometimes helps me do my homework. She usually goes to bed at 11 p.m.

    Running two miles on the playground isn't a fun thing to do for most students. But students in Miss Brown's class at Mark Twain School in the USA gladly put on their running shoes. They wanted to raise money to help a dog in need.

    Miss Brown told her students about Peter, a dog who had a hard start in life. At less than a year old, Peter's owners found out that he was not healthy. Something was wrong with his body. Medicine could help but it was very expensive. For Peter to have a better life, he needed surgery (外科手术). But his owners couldn't afford that. Finally, they had to leave Peter at the animal hospital.

    "I love dogs and when I hear about Peter, I felt so sad for him," says student Tony.

    Miss Brown's class decided to hold a Jog-a-Thon to raise money for Peter's surgery.

    "At first I felt like the Jog-a-Thon was just to get us to exercise," says Mike "but then I wanted to help this dog."

    "I just wanted to make a difference in Peter's life," adds student Chance Wood.

    News of the Jog-a-Thon spread throughout the school. Before long, five other classes also took part in the event. "I started receiving money from all kinds of people in our school community," says Miss Brown. "We raised $3,180.64 in all."

Today is sunny, but the weather is hot and humid. There are lots of people. Some people are taking photos; some are swimming in the sea, and others are lying on the beach. Look at this group of young men playing beach soccer. They are only wearing sports shorts and sunglasses. They are running barefoot (赤脚的). They really look cool. I'm surprised that they can play so well in this heat. This is a very beautiful and interesting place. It's also a good place to relax. I like here so much that I really don' t want to leave.

    Robert De Vincenzo, the great golfer (高尔夫球手), once won a competition, after receiving the check (支票) and smiling for the cameras, he went to the club and got ready to leave. While he was walking alone to his car in the parking lot, a middle-aged woman came over to him.

She said "congratulations" to him and then told him that her child was seriously ill and near death. She did not know how she could pay the doctor's bills.

    De Vincenzo was touched by her story, and he took out a pen and signed his winning check for payment to the woman. "Make some good days for the baby," he said as he gave the check to her.

    The next week he was having lunch in a country club when his friend came to his table. "Someone told me you met a middle-aged woman there after you won that golf competition." De Vincenzo nodded. "Well", said the friend, "I have news for you. She cheated you. She has no sick baby. She has not even married."

    "You mean there is no baby who is dying?" said De Vincenzo.

    "That's the best news I've heard all week," De Vincenzo said happily.
