Going to a British high school for one year was a very {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (enjoy) and exciting experience for me. School life in Britain is quite different from {#blank#}2{#/blank#} in China. British high schools have shorter school hours and {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (small) class sizes. Besides, the homework was not as heavy as {#blank#}4{#/blank#} I used to get in my old days. Students there have to move to different classrooms {#blank#}5{#/blank#} different classes. They have to study Maths, English and science, but can drop some subjects {#blank#}6{#/blank#} they don't like them. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} , there is something that is quite like the school in China—if you want to earn respect, you must work hard and achieve high {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (grade).I felt lucky as all my teachers gave me encouragement, {#blank#}9{#/blank#} helped me overcome all the challenges I met with. I look back on my time in the UK with {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (satisfy), and I really hope to go back and study in Manchester again.

    No one knows what would happen in the future for sure. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} we often think of the future and wonder what the world would be like {#blank#}2{#/blank#} a hundred years' time.

    Think of space. By that time perhaps {#blank#}3{#/blank#} permanent station on the moon will have been set up. Perhaps people {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(be) able to visit the moon as tourists. Cheap rockets for space travel will have been developed, {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(permit) long journeys throughout the solar system. When that time comes, people will be taking holidays in space and visiting other planets, such {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the Mars Colony and the Venus Exploration outpost.

    Scientists of the future will almost certainly find other ways to make life last{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(long). They will {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(probable) find cures for most diseases. Hospitals will may have “body banks” {#blank#}9{#/blank#} can give you almost any new part you need to keep on {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (live). People in the future may live to be a lot older than 100 years.

    Brenda Bongos was an enthusiastic girl {#blank#}1{#/blank#} dream was to play the drums in a band. But one big problem {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(lie) in her way.{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (be) good enough to play in a band, she had to practice a lot,{#blank#}4{#/blank#} she lived next-door to a lot of old people who she could not afford to annoy. One day, while she {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(watch) a science program on TV, Bongos learned that sound cannot travel in space, because there's no air. She {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(immediate) decided to become a sort of musical astronaut.

    With the help of a lot of time, books and work, Bongos built a big glass ball connected to a machine which sucked out all the air inside so that no sound could escape {#blank#}7{#/blank#}it.{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (wear) the special space suit, she entered the glass ball and played those drums like a wild child. Months {#blank#}9{#/blank#}, her invention was so famous that the government even suggested she {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(take) part in a real space journey.

    Though quite {#blank#}1{#/blank#} few Chinese students say that their knowledge of English grammar is good, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} most would admit that their oral English is poor.

    Whenever I speak to Chinese students, they always say, “My oral English is poor.” {#blank#}3{#/blank#} , their oral English does not have to remain “poor” ! I would like to suggest that there may be some {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (reason) for the problems with their {#blank#}5{#/blank#}  (speak) English. First, they fail to find suitable words to express {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (they) due to a limited vocabulary. Second, they are afraid of making mistakes. The {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (three) reason is that not enough attention {#blank#}8{#/blank#} （pay）to listening.

    If you don't use your English beyond the classroom，you will forget {#blank#}9{#/blank#} you know. Remember: USE IT OR LOSE IT! You can learn how to speak English better {#blank#}10{#/blank#} speaking English more.

    In order to know a foreign language thoroughly, four things are necessary. Firstly, we must understand the language when we hear {#blank#}1{#/blank#} spoken. Secondly, we must be able to speak it ourselves correctly with {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (confident) and without hesitation. Thirdly, we must be able to read the language, and fourthly, we must be able to write it. We must be able to make sentences that are {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (grammatical) correct.

    There is no easy way to success {#blank#}4{#/blank#} language learning. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} good memory is a great help, but it is not enough only {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(memorize) rules from a grammar book. It is not much use learning by heart long lists of words and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} meanings, studying the dictionary and so on. We must learn by using the language. {#blank#}8{#/blank#} we are satisfied with only a few rules we have memorized, we are not really learning the language. “Learn through use” is a good piece of advice for those {#blank#}9{#/blank#} are studying a new language. Practice is important. We must practise speaking and {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(write) the language whenever we can.
