When I was a teenager, my teachers thought I was the worst student. My family also had thethought as my teachers. When I was going to give up my studying, a new teacher Miss White came to our school. She was young, beautiful and knowledgeable.

One day, when I was sittingin my classroom, Miss White came up to me and talked to me happily. Soon her smileaway my unhappiness.

"Do you think I can go to college?" I didn'twhy I asked such a question. I thought she must say "no",  everyone else said so.

But she said, "Dear, you can doyou want. Just try, and you'll get closer to success. I believe you are the best!”

I was touched by her words. I decided to study hard. From then on, we became good friends. She oftenme with my study in her free time.

In the end, I did well in myand went to a good college. Miss White is an angel（天使）. Her words have kept me going forward. She helped me to see that I am special and can bein life.

There are many classic cultures in China. All of them have a very long history. Here we introduce some of them.

On August 15, 2011, the Ministry of Public Security （公安部）started a campaign （活动）to educate drivers about the dangers of driving after drinking.

As a part of the campaign, police officers watched bars, restaurants and KTVs in Beijing, Shanghai, Liaoning, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hubei and Guangdong. It ended up on December 30. But it told the drivers the meaning of the new traffic laws and the dangers of drinking .

In Beijing, some restaurants put up notices and told drivers about their responsibility. "Usually if a group of guests come by car, the driver won't drink. If he does, we will remind him," said a waitress from Dongfang Restaurant in Beijing. Fewer drivers are drinking alcohol nowadays, since many know about the campaign.

Wang Lankun, a traffic policeman in Beijing said, "Some drivers think a glass of beer is not a problem. But a blood test will show that their blood-alcohol level is more than 20mg for each 100ml of blood, that is enough to affect their driving."

During the campaign, drivers who have a blood-alcohol level of over 20mg for each 100ml of blood will get a fine of 500 yuan. Also, they will not be allowed to drive for three months.

In fact, there are strict laws to punish drunk driving in many other countries. For example, in the USA, if someone has a blood-alcohol level of over 80mg for each 100ml of blood, he will be kept in prison for one year. But in Britain, he will be fined 5,000 pounds and banned（禁止）from driving for 12 months, also he will be kept in prison for 6 months. In Germany, if a driver has a blood-alcohol level of over 60mg for each 100ml of blood, he won't be allowed to drive until he passes a new driving test.

The customs in different countries are different. If I have dinner with a Chinese host, he always put food onto my plates as soon as I have eaten up my food. That often makes me uncomfortable. I have to eat the food even if I don't want to, because it is a bad manner to leave one's food on the plate in the West. I have already noticed that when a Chinese sits at an American dinner party, he often refuses the offer of food or drink though he is in fact still hungry or thirsty. This might be a good manner in China but it is not in the West at all. In the United States, it is impolite to keep asking someone again and again or insist on （坚持） his accepting something. Americans have a direct way of speaking. If they want something, they will ask for it. If not, they will say "No, thanks". So we had better remember the famous saying, When in Rome, do as the Romans do.

Getting enough sleep is important for everyone. If you don't sleep well at night, you aren5t going to study well during the day. If you don't have a good sleep, you may get ill.

 Other people can't. A lot of things can help you go to sleep easily and get a good sleep. Doing some exercise during the day can help you go to sleep. Walking, running and bike riding are good sports. Before you go to bed, you shouldn't drink coffee or eat chocolates. Many people also find that listening to quiet music helps them go to sleep. Please take a warm shower before you go to bed.

Follow the advice and have a good sleep every day, so you can wake up happily in the morning and keep in good health.

        Today, most people are busy and have no time to enjoy life. Actually, your life can be enjoyable if you take a little stop and check your routine tasks（日常工作）.Then you will find it's actually easy to make some good changes in life.

       For example, waking up early gives you enough time to exercise, have your breakfast peacefully, read your book, and then get on with the rest of your day. You can also use morning time to plan the day. While planning the day, you can begin by writing down the tasks you need to finish in a day, and then decide which tasks are important enough for you to finish first.

       Well, taking a bus, a subway or a train doesn't seem a good way to save time. However, by taking these, you'll get the time to read books, listen to music and so on. As a result, you'll save time.

       If you love playing with your mobile phone, you waste so much time doing nothing helpful. You need to spend your time on something meaningful, like painting something, or reading a great book. Also Internet surfing, these days, is one of the top time-wasting activities around. So cutting down the time you spend on the Internet is one way to save time for yourself.

       When you don't have enough time to look after yourself, you will not probably be healthy. A busy lifestyle should be the reason for you to treat yourself with great care and make more time for yourself.

In many Western schools, sports day is a big event. Children take part in competitive （竞争性的）sports and try to break school records and take the first place.

Sports days, or sports meetings, are usually held in the warmer seasons, either at the beginning or the end of the school year. They are also called field days. Primary school sports days are fun. They usually have activities such as the egg and the spoon race and the sack race（套袋赛跑）. Other events include the skipping race and the three-legged race. In middle and high schools, sports days include many of the common track and field events（田径项目）. They are more serious and competitive than primary school ones.

Students' parents and other relatives also come to the school on sports days. They watch children play. Many schools in the West have "mothers and fathers" races for parents to take part in!

Although sports days are exciting, they also have some problems. According to some reports in the USA, sports days have become too competitive to be good for students. Some parents put too much pressure on their children. Some schools don't have "mothers and fathers" races any more as there is much fighting and cheating.

My hometown is Suzhou. As you know, it  silk. There are many kinds of silk, like quilts, clothes and so on. The silk quilts  by skilled workers. They can make people feel warm and comfortable.
