Hi, everybody! Welcome to Taiwan! Now I would like to show you1this island(岛). It is as beautiful as many other places in our country.
Do you know2about the Sun Moon Lake? You3ask why people call it so. If you fly high up over the lake and look 4from the plane, you will find the answer by yourself. In the middle of this lake, there is a small island. People call it Pearl Island(珍珠岛) because it5 like a pearl. That is 6people call the lake the Sun Moon Lake.
There are many mountains(高山)around this lake. The Ali Mountain is near the Sun Moon Lake. We will stay there 7three days. You can also have a dance party with the local people. You can climb the mountain and watch the sun8slowly in the west. Of course, you can9up early and enjoy the beautiful sunrise(日出) in the morning.
Now, do you think Taiwan is a wonderful place10?

Mr. Jones had a nice Brown coat. He loved it very much, but his wife didn't like it. Because it was old. She often said." Give it to a poor man." But Mr. Jones always answered," No, I like this coat. "
Then a cigarette(香烟) fell on it and made a hole in it. So Mrs Jones said, "Please don't wear it again." Mr. Jones took it to a small tailor(裁缝) "Please make another coat like this one." The tailor made the coat very carefully. Then he lit (点燃)a cigarette, and made a hole in it in the same place.
One Monday morning, I was waiting at the bus stop in Harvard Square. It was very cold, about -8℃. I just missed the bus, so I had to stand there on such a cold day, waiting for the next bus to go to the hospital. My mind was full of anxiety. "Why didn't I leave two minutes earlier?" "What would go wrong with my husband's operation (手术)?" "Will I get to him before it starts?"
Among the others at the bus stop was a woman who was about 50 years old. She wore an old hat, an old pair of boots and a dark coat, but she had no gloves (手套). Another woman who looked younger came to the older woman and said, "Your hands must be very cold. You will get frostbite (生冻疮) in this weather if you don't wear gloves." With these words, she dropped her heavy bag to the ground. After a while, she took out a pair of purple gloves from her bag, took the older woman's hands and gently placed a glove on each hand. "Thank you. You're so kind." The old woman said again and again.
I was deeply moved (感动) by this act of kindness. A moment ago, I was feeling sorry for myself, but now I felt hopeful and optimistic (乐观). I thought in this world there were still many people in trouble who were in great need of our help.
A few days later, I went to buy 5 pairs of bright purple gloves in a shop and put them in my bag, just in case (以防) I might run into someone in need on a cold day.
Members of the (help) Hands Club usually do a lot of things.

Next week, all the members in the club plan (have) a party with the students in a Hope Primary School. And they (grow) some flowers along the road. They hope the flowers will make the town more beautiful.
In the USA, there are many kinds of restaurants.
Fast food restaurant are very famous. You can find McDonald's and Kentucky Fried Chicken in many countries around the world. You look at a menu(菜单) on the counter(柜台), and say what you'd like to eat. You pay the person who brings food to you. You take your food and sit down or take it away. There's no need to leave a tip(小费).
In a coffee shop, you sit at the counter or at a table. You don't wait for the waitress to show you where to sit. She usually brings you coffee when you sit down. You tell her what you'd like to eat and she brings it to you. You pay the cashier(收银员) as you leave.
In a family restaurant, the waitress shows you where you can sit. Often the waitress tells you her name, but you don't need to tell her yours. If you can't finish eating everything, your waitress gives you a doggy bag to take the rest of food home. You should add (增加) fifteen per cent(百分比) to the bill(账单) as a tip.
In top class restaurants, you had better order before you come, and you need to arrive on time. The waiter shows you where to sit. If you have wine there, he may ask you to taste it. You can only refuse it if it tastes bad. When you get your Bill, check it and then add fifteen to twenty per cent to it as a tip for the waiter.
