Simplyput:  culture shock is the diffi-cultypeople may experience when being exposed and adjusting to a {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (remarkable) different new culture. Usually, people often go._{#blank#}6{#/blank#} four distinct phases: the honeymoon phase, thene-gotiation phase, the adjustment phase and the mastery phase. Culture shock can happen immediately upon your {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(arrive) in the country.

For international students, perhaps the most direct impact of culture shock is the variety of accents, especially in multicultural countries {#blank#}8{#/blank#}the U.S. Canada or Australia.There are two main reasons: Firstly, these countries have highly diversifiedgroups of residents from different cultural{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(background). Secondly,  there are many international students fromall around the world every year studying in these countries, so you shouldn'tbe surprised {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(find) allkinds of unfamiliar accents around the university campus.

The Language of Love

    Music is a universal language, which has the most powerful magic in the world. Music is a sweet language to show love to those who love us and those who{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(love) by us. Music is also a friendly language for unfamiliar people to show kindness. It is living everywhere and all the time in our daily life.

    I learned this while{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(take) care of a seagull unfortunate enough to swallow a hook. After calling the wildlife rescue center and learning that all its{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(vehicle) were out on other business, I carefully{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(wrap) (裹住)the wild bird in a towel and carried him to my friend's car. The only way{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(keep) him calm was by singing. For 30 minutes, I sang{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(soft) to the small creature until finally delivering(递送) him{#blank#}7{#/blank#}those who could help. I'm not certain {#blank#}8{#/blank#}happened afterwards, but for that brief period, we two vastly different species connected, bridging{#blank#}9{#/blank#}gap between us through songs.

    There is one all-important law of human conduct. If we obey that law, we shall almost never get into trouble. In fact, that law, if {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (obey), will bring us countless friends and constant happiness. But the very instant we break the law, we shall get into {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (end) trouble. The law is this: Always make others feel important. According to psychologist, William James, the ruling principle in human nature is the desire {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (appreciate). It is desires and urges like these {#blank#}6{#/blank#} distinguish us from animals. People have thought about the rules of human relationships for thousands of years before {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (discover) one rule—probably the most important rule in the world: Do to others as you would have them do to you.

    You want the approval of those with {#blank#}8{#/blank#} you come in contact. You want the recognition of your true worth. You want to have the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (feel) that you are important in your little world. So let's obey the Golden Rule, recognize others' importance and recognize it {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (honest). When? Where? The answer is: all the time, everywhere.
