Isaac Newton was born in  Woolsthorpe , England, on December 25,1642. He was born early and he was very{#blank#}1{#/blank#} .No one believed he could continue to live. But he surprised {#blank#}2{#/blank#}  . He had one of the most powerful minds in history. And he lived{#blank#}3{#/blank#}he was 84.

 Newton's father died before he was born. His mother married again a few years later. She {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Newton with his grandmother.

 The boy was not a good student .Yet he was curious(好奇的) and liked to make things ,such as kites, clocks and simple machines . Newton also{#blank#}5{#/blank#} finding new ways to answer questions or solve problems .As a boy ,for example, he wanted to find a way to measure(测量) the {#blank#}6{#/blank#}  of the wind .On a windy day , he measured how far he could jump with the wind at his back .Then he measured{#blank#}7{#/blank#} he could jump with the wind in his face .From the difference between the two jumps, he made his own measure of the power of the wind.

 Strangely ,Newton became a much better student after a boy kicked him in the stomach.The boy was one of the best students in the school.Newton decided to get even (报复) by getting {#blank#}8{#/blank#} marks than the boy who kicked him .In a short time ,Newton became the top student at the school.

 Newton left school to help on the family farm.{#blank#}9{#/blank#} , the boy was not a good farmer.He spent his time solving math problems. Instead of taking care of the farm. He spent hours visiting a bookstore in town, {#blank#}10{#/blank#}   selling his vegetables in the market.An uncle believed that Newton would do better as a student than as a farmer.So he sponsored(资助) the young man into Cambridge University to study math.

    George Wilson was the owner of a watch shop. One day he told his son James," I'll teach you all I know about watches."

    For the first few weeks, James looked after the front of the shop. He worked hard and was {#blank#}1{#/blank#} to the customers(顾客). George was very pleased with(对...... 很满意) him.

    After about six months, James said to his father," "Is there anything else you want to teach me?"

    "Yes," said George," it's time for me to teach you how to make{#blank#}2{#/blank#} "

    "I know that," said James," you buy watches at one price and sell them at a {#blank#}3{#/blank#} price. That's how we get so much money."

    "That's true. But we don't make most of the money from it." He picked up a watch from the counter(柜台)."What do you think of this watch?"

    "That's a cheap watch. We can only get few dollars from {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  it."

    "You are wrong, my son," George said," those cheap ones get {#blank#}5{#/blank#} money to us than any other watch in the shop."

    "I don't understand," James said.

    "Because they are really cheap, they are always breaking, and we make our money from fixing them."

    Once upon a time, in a small village, there was a place {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the House of 1,000 Mirrors(镜子). A small happy dog knew this and {#blank#}2{#/blank#} to visit it. When he arrived, he happily climbed the stairs(楼梯) of the house. He looked into the doorway {#blank#}3{#/blank#} his tail wagging(摇动) as fast as he could. He smiled, and saw 1,000 other warm and friendly smiles. As he left the house, he thought, "This is a nice place. I will come back and visit it often.

In this village, another little dog，who was not as {#blank#}4{#/blank#} as the first one, also decided to visit the house. He {#blank#}5{#/blank#} climbed the stairs and looked unhappily into the doorway. He saw 1.000 unfriendly dogs staring at(盯着看) him. He growled(吼叫) at them and saw 1, 000 little dogs growling back at him. As he left, he thought, "This is a bad place， and I will never come back here.
