My name is Sam. I joined a club called "passing help" last month. Now let me tell you why I joined it.

One evening this May, on my way home my old car broke down (出故障). It was 25 miles from my home. I wanted to get a ride (搭便车), but there was no car. It was also hard to take a taxi. I decided to take a bus home. I went to a bus stop nearby.

After a while, a bus came, but it did not go to my town. The bus driver was a young woman. She was kind and she told me which bus I should take. I waited there for about thirty minutes, but no bus came. At last a car came to me and a woman came out of the car. She was just the bus driver.

"When I reached the bus station, I got to know that the bus to your town couldn't come, so I returned here. I just can't leave you here," she said. "Get in my car and I will take you back to your home." "It is a long way." I said. "Come on, sir," she said. "Let's go."

On the way she told me a story. A few days ago, there wasn't gas (汽油) in her car. An old man drove her up to a gas station and then back to her car.

When we got to my home, I wanted to give her some money to thank her, but she didn't accept it. "I only want to help others and do something nice for somebody. Pass it along," she said.

Mike is my pen pal. He's thirteen years old. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. His grandparents have a big farm. They work on their farm every day. Today is Sunday. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} . He asks his classmates to visit his grandparents' farm. At 8:00, they take a bus to the farm. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. When（当）they get to the farm，his grandparents are very happy to see them.

On the farm, the farmers are very busy. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. The boys get some water for the farmer sand the girls feed（喂）the rabbits. In the afternoon， Mike and his classmates play on the farm. David and Eric fly a kite with the dogs. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. They are very happy!

Sarah is 7 years old and she is new at school. After the first class bell rings，she walks out of the classroom. She sees some children talking and laughing in the school {#blank#}1{#/blank#} .

In China, the Spring Festival is the most {#blank#}1{#/blank#} of the first month of the lunar calendar (阴历). 

Before the Spring Festival comes, people go out {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(buy) things, such as meat. fruit, sweets and new clothes. They clean their houses {#blank#}3{#/blank#} decorate(装饰) them. The Chinese character fu is a must. It is{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(usual) stuck upside down, which means fu comes. 

The celebrations begin on the eve of the lunar New Year. The family get together for {#blank#}5{#/blank#} big dinner. If a person is far from home, he {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(try) to get home for this big dinner. 

During the holidays, they go to visit relatives and {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(friend) and exchange New Year greetings. They sit around {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(talk) and eating candies, cakes and all kinds of delicious foods. You can never imagine {#blank#}9{#/blank#} excited they are! Also, people in the north of China often eat dumplings for breakfast. People in the south often eat niangao because niangao sounds like the phrase "{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(high) every year". 

The celebrations last for 15 days. They will come to an end when the Lantern Festival is over. 

 On December 17, 1903, Wilbur and Orville Wright made the first successful powered flight in history, making their dream come true.

 It all started when Orville was 7 and Wilbur was 11. Their father gave them a toy helicopter(直升机), which made them dream of flying. Their mother, who knew much about machines and science, also influenced them a lot.

 When the brothers grew up, they entered the printing business. Then they opened a bicycle repair shop. It wasn't long before they were making their own bikes. However, the brothers never stopped to study flight. They studied what other people learned about flight. By 1900, the Wright brothers were ready to test their first Flyer. They tried many times. Finally, on December 17, 1903, they achieved success.

 That day, the brothers flew four times. Orville flew the Flyer the first time. That flight lasted 12 seconds and went 120 feet. Their second flight went 175 feet and the third 200 feet. Wilbur flew the fourth flight. It reached 852 feet in 59 seconds. After that last flight, the Flyer became too broken to fly again because of the strong wind.

They kept testing new designs to improve their Flyer. Later they began to teach others to fly. They even opened their own flying school. The brothers did make travel more convenient for people.

"Where was the cashier.(收银员)?" I wondered. Feeling 1 with having waited at the counter(柜台) for at least 3 minutes, I quickly looked at my watch. I was afraid I 2 had enough time to eat a sandwich and then rushed back to work.

 When I looked around the almost empty 3 , I saw a woman cleaning a table in the corner. She looked at me coldly with sad, dark eyes.

I felt so angry that I was almost out of 4 . But then I remembered Mom's words.  "5 you find yourself in an unpleasant(不愉快) case, just think about what is missing. If someone is 6 , then kindness is missing. If someone is hateful, then 7 is missing. If we do what's missing, then we will provide whatever the case needs."

 Here I was in an ampleasant case. And what was missing was service. So 8 should I do"what's missing"? Should f just jump behind the counter to take the food I would order?

 Just then the woman walked slowly towards me. "May I help you?" she asked, still 9 . She looked so tired. 10 , she was overworked.

I took a deep breath. With Mom's words still ringing in my 11 , I gave the woman my order and smiled. "How are you doing today?"

 My question seemed to 12 her. She looked at me for a second(秒) before answering."Not too good."

"I'm sorry," I said, "I hope it gets better from right now."

 She almost smiled as she handed me the food. "Thanks. I hope you' re right."

I thought to 13 as I ate my sandwich. We' re the same, really. We have problems and angers, we get tired and we hurt. We need to be 14 to each other.

 After eating, I cleaned the table cleaner than usual, and put the tray(托盘) back nicely on the stand. The woman was watching me all the time, with a big smile on her face.

"Do what's missing." What mum said really 15 . I smiled back to her, too.
