On May 3, a Long March-5 rocket took off from Hainan. It was carrying the Chang'e-6 spacecraft (航天器). After about 37 minutes, the spacecraft separated from the rocket and began its 53-day journey. 

The Chang'e-6 spacecraft has a special job. It's going to collect rocks and soil from the far side of the moon and bring them back to Earth. "No other country has done this before," said Wu Weiren, chief designer of China's moon exploration program. The moon rotates (旋转) at the same speed as it moves around Earth. As a result, we always see the "near side" of the moon from Earth. "We still know very little about the moon's far side. If we make it, we'll give scientists new, first-hand information about the moon."

The Chang'e-6 spacecraft has a robotic arm. After it lands on the moon, the arm will start working. It will collect rocks and soil from the moon's surface (表面) and put them in a special box. The spacecraft will then bring them back to Earth. How much will Chang'e-6 be able to collect? Scientists don't know for sure. Their goal is about two kilograms.

The spacecraft will land in an impact crater (撞击坑) called the SPA Basin. It is 2,500 kilometers wide. That's about the distance between Beijing and Hainan. The SPA Basin has a history of over four billion years. It is the oldest and largest impact crater on the moon. Scientists believe that studying it may give us some of the earliest information about the moon.

You can see different kinds of driverless cars at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. For example, when you feel tired, you can have a rest in a driverless minibus. When you feel hungry, you can buy food from a "driverless car store". Another kind of driverless car can even send things to you just like a postman. They help to make the Games a bigger success.

Space classes

On March 23, 2022, three Chinese astronauts gave their second lecture(课程) from Tiangong space station. They did several experiments(实验). They also showed some tools to study science. The three astronauts gave their first lecture last December. Millions of students watched them and learned many fantastic science facts.

3D photos

This May, a middle school in Beijing used 3D­printing technology to print graduation photos(毕业照) for Grade 9 students. Students can touch the "faces" of their classmates. This technology can also help blind students "see" their classmates.

Alicia: What time do you normally start and end your workday?

Ricky: That depends on the part of the project I'm working on. Before and after filming. I usually wake up at 7 a. m., start working soon after that, and stop in the afternoon. During filming, I don't have a regular schedule. I usually wake up when the sun comes up and I quit when the sun goes down.

Ricky: That also depends on the project. I work from home when I'm not filming. While I'm filming, I work all over the world. For example, when I was making a film about the Himalayas, I worked in a village in the mountains. 

Alicia: Why did you choose to do this kind of work?

Ricky: When I was young, I watched a lot of movies and read a lot of books. They showed me different ways of living and thinking. I want my films and photographs to do this for other people! 

Alicia: What's the most difficult thing about your job?

Ricky: The paperwork. It's boring, but it's important.

How do you feel when your teacher asks you to work on a group project with other students? Do you like to work together with others or work alone?

The Programme for International Student Assessment, or PISA, carried out a survey of student's ability to work together in groups. They found that students who do well on tests by themselves are also likely to be better at working with other people. This finding was true for many countries. Students in Japan, South Korea, Finland and Canada, where test scores are high, also did well in working together to solve problems.

But this was not the case for every country. Chinese students, who have high scores as well, displayed just average collaborative(合作的) skills. " One reason might be that Chinese parents and teachers focus too much on grades," said Zhao Zhongxin, former vice president of the Chinese Family Education Association. " Students have a lot of exam pressure and they see schools as places for competition." " However, collaborative skills are very important for preparing students for today's society." he added." Luckily, more Chinese parents and teachers are realizing the importance of this and are thinking of ways to help students improve this skill."

Another interesting finding from the PISA survey was that girls can be better than boys at working together. They said girls show more positive attitudes towards relationships, which means they are more willing to listen to others' opinions.

PISA also found that the classroom environment can influence how well students collaborate. In classes where there are a lot of activities that require communication such as class debates, students might have better attitudes towards collaborating.

Have you ever dreamed of traveling in space? To travel in space, we first have to work out where our food {#blank#}1{#/blank#} from. 

Today's space {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(tour) don't go to the Moon or Mars. They go to the International Space Station (ISS). There, the spacemen live for weeks to months. 

If you visited the ISS years ago, nearly every kind of food you ate would have come from the Earth. 

In 2014, scientists {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(send) the ISS a space garden with some vegetable seeds(种子). With water and some light, the vegetables in the garden grew. Those were the first foods being grow n on the ISS. But the spacemen couldn't eat them and had to send them back to the Earth. The next year, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} scientists made sure they were safe, the spacemen grew the {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(two) seeds. This time the vegetables were ready for the spacemen {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(eat). 

Gardening is {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(difficult) in space than it is on Earth.{#blank#}8{#/blank#} gravity, plants don't know which way is up. But they learn how to grow. They send their leaves in the direction of light and their roots (根) into the soil. 

The spacemen have also grown vegetables and flowers. It's important to know{#blank#}9{#/blank#} plant can flower in space because flowering is part of how some plants make fruit. 

While the space garden is small now,{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(hopeful) it could one day help provide people with food on longtime space trips. 

The Tokyo 2020 Paralympics(残奥会) ran from Aug 24th to Sept 5th. All the sportsmen and sportswomen from around the world took part in different sports. They all have some form of disability. Always a strong team, China brought 251 players to Tokyo. They fought bravely and won many medals(奖牌).
