My cousin and I took a trip by rail across Canada from west to east. Before starting out, we spent a couple of days in Vancouver, admiring the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (sight). Then we arose early to take the train to Lake Louise, passing through the Canadian Rockies. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (see) from the train window, the mountains and forests looked {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (mass). We spent the night near the lake, where the blue water literally took our breath away, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} headed to Jasper the next morning. The beautiful scenery convinced us it was the most awesome journey we {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (take). From Jasper, we boarded the train bound {#blank#}6{#/blank#} Toronto. One of our first stops was in Edmonton, which {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (be) home to many shopping malls. We never anticipated seeing such an open country until the train headed across the Great Prairie. {#blank#}8{#/blank#} amazed us most were a bunch of farms covering two wheat-growing provinces. The train thundered on, through the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (roll) hills in Ontario. It was {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (true) enjoyable to watch the red maple leaves outside the window. After four days, we reached Toronto.

Nat ,{#blank#}1{#/blank#}  was ten years old , lived in a small town in England . He always stayed in England for his holidays , {#blank#}2{#/blank#} one day he decided to go to Spain ,{#blank#}3{#/blank#}  all his friends liked to go for their holidays . First he went to Madrid ， {#blank#}4{#/blank#} is the capital of Spain , and stayed in a small hotel . On the first morning , he went out for a walk . In England , people drive on the left . But in Spain , they drive on the right ,{#blank#}5{#/blank#} .he forgot {#blank#}6{#/blank#}  he was walking along a busy street , a bike {#blank#}7{#/blank#} came before him knocked him down . Nat was sent to the hospital , in {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the girl {#blank#}9{#/blank#} rode the bike said sorry to him . After two days , Nat left Spain and returned to England . He told his friends that he wouldn ' t forget the days {#blank#}10{#/blank#} he stayed in Spain . 

As a child I once read a story of two men who walked 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada with huge packs,  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}caught my eye, as L, too, dreamed of adventures in the wilderness. I've always remembered that story,{#blank#}2{#/blank#}never believed I would actually make it. It was too far out of my comfort zone.

But then, at the age of 42, I{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(hike) the 88 Temples Trail through Japan There, I experienced how attractive it could be to hike alone.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}impressed me most were the fantastic mountains, grand temples and generous local people.

When I shared my plan {#blank#}5{#/blank#}friends and colleagues, the news was welcomed with mixed{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(react). From some I got enthusiastic approval. But from others there were frowns and question marks. Half a year away from my family was{#blank#}7{#/blank#}challenge for me. Yet it wouldn't defeat me. After all, six months is{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(simple) a short period in a lifetime.{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(work) hard for 20 years in shiny office buildings, I felt the need for more adventure in my life. I hoped to slow down and look within, as well as explore the unfamiliar things. I understood that I needed them both.{#blank#}10{#/blank#}John Muir once said, "Keep close to nature… and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean."

My grandfather was born in a small town in Italy. He would wake up at four in the morning every day to work on the farm. Although he was a great student in school, he only went up to Grade 3 because he was required to help with the family farm. 

Later, my grandfather used his own hard-earned savings—the small amount was all he had—to travel to Canada. He was alone in a new country, not knowing anyone and not speaking English or French. At a farm, the owner quickly saw what a hard-working young man my grandfather was, so he paid my grandfather a much higher salary. Although the owner was very nice to him and treated him like family, he was not satisfied. He dreamed of being more successful, of better career advancements. 

One day, he got an offer to work in the construction industry. My grandfather, a newly immigrated young famer, who was eager to move up in the world, caught this opportunity and prospered( 发达 ) through hard work. Around 1967, however, he become overwhelmed(不知所措的)with stress, sleepless nights and anxiety from the business. He also had two young daughters to take care of and my grandmother was in the hospital at the time. The combined stress and anxiety unfortunately drove him into a major depression. During a medical check-up, his doctor warned him about his health. He knew it was time for him to make a change and decided to sell his shares in the company. 

He then began a smaller business of his own, which resulted in less stress and more time with family. Had he chosen not to quit his former job, he might have been a billionaire today. My grandfather will turn 95 in October; even at this ripe old age, he is still strong, well and high-spirited. Looking at his story as a life example, he teaches us to work hard, but at the same time not to forget to enjoy life and have a good sense of humour about it all. 

Work is important, sure, but there is much more to life than just that. Overall, this is the ultimate key to happiness. 

A group of foreigners visited Weihai, a coastal city, to explore what the rising star in China's tourism market can offer.

Driven by social media and short video platforms, Weihai's tourism industry saw a huge growth, with the city of just 2.92 million residents welcoming over 59 million visits.

Their first stop is the Dongchu Island in Rongcheng, a county-level city in Weihai, where the scenery is characterized by the region's unique seaweed-roofed houses. "I've never seen a roof made of seaweed. I can't believe my eyes at the houses," said Nick Ive, a British editor.

The group then visited the Sanggou Bay Marine Ranch（海洋牧场）, a hot family-friendly tourist destination to experience marine farming. "Visiting Sanggou Bay Marine Ranch was a pleasant experience because I could see and experience firsthan d how the sea fishes are kept," said Desca Lydi Natalia, a journalist with Antara, Indonesia's national news agency. "This experience not only increased my understanding but also provided enjoyment, as I could directly eat clams（蛤蜊） freshly harvested from the sea. I even had the opportunity to feed the seagulls."

Sanggo u Bay Marine Ranch receives about 80,000 visitors every year since it was established in 2015. Visiting the marine ranch has become one of the must-dos in Weihai.

Desca said that her favorite experience was living in a homestay in Weihai. "While staying in a hotel is comfortable, a homestay offers a different experience, especially since the yard is large and full of flowers, making it feel like home. So I chose a homestay,"said the Indonesian journalist. The homestay Desca chose is just a stone's throw away from the beach. Desca said that her country is a maritime country and also has many homestays. "So when I stayed in the homestay, the atmosphere reminded me of Indonesia," she added.

Cruz Genet,11, and Anthony Skopick, 10, couldn't agree. Were the birds out on the ice ducks or geese? So on a 1 January evening last year, the two friends ventured onto the 2 pond near their homes, to get a better look. First they tossed a rock onto the ice to3 it. Then they stepped on it. 4 the ice would hold their weight, Anthony took a few steps, then…FOOMP. He crashed through the 5 frozen surface." There was no sound, no crack," he recalled,"I just fell through instantly". Cruz 6 to help his panicked friend. FOOMP— the pond 7 him too.

 The boys were up to their necks in icy water and quickly losing feeling in their limbs. Any chance of their 8 themselves was slipping away. Cruz was sure he was going to die. Anthony's older sister was nearby and started screaming for help.

 John Lavin, a9 driving nearby on his way home, heard her. He quickly 10 . Seeing the boys, he grabbed a nearby buoy (救生圈), 11 off his shoes, and ran into the cold water, chopping(劈) his way through the ice with his free 12 .

 Lavin made his way to Cruz and Anthony and pulled them back to land. When in hospital, doctors discovered that their five- minute 13 in the water had lowered their body 14 nearly ten degrees.

 Fortunately, the boys have fully recovered, though they are still a little awestruck by their 15 neighbor." Just to think," says Cruz," If he weren't there, we could have died."
