Do you ever watch old movies? Maybe you will see one with Carole Lombard. She was a famous 1  in the 1930s. She died when she was only 34.  In her  2 life she made 70 movies!

    Lombard's real name was Jane Alice Peters: In 1921, she was playing baseball in the 3 near her home. A movie director  4  her and decided to put her in a movie. She was only 13 at the time. The movie was one of the last silent movies. She acted(表演) so well that she5 the hearts of some people. At 16, she left school to act.

    In 1925, she had an agreement with a  6 studio, 20th Century Fox. The studio gave 7  a new name, and she acted in several films. Then, at age 18, she was in a bad car accident. The accident left scars(伤疤) on her face. The studio broke the agreement, but she did not 8. She continued to act.

    It was Paramount Studio that made Lombard a 9. She made many movies for the studio. She also married two of their stars. Lombard was married to actor William Powell for only 23 months. 10  seven years later, she married the great love of her life, actor Clark Gable. It was a great Hollywood love story.

    Whitney didn't have many friends. She was shy and 1. She never wanted to be popular, but she did want to have someone to share 2 and laugh with.

    Then it was time for her to go to college in another town. And she had to 3 with someone she didn't know. She had no idea whether she could make friends in that new environment.

    But something happened during the first class. And it 4Whitney's life. The teacher asked everyone to 5 a little about themselves. Whitney told everyone where she came from and some simple information. The last 6 for each student was "What is your goal for this term?" 7 of the students said it was to get good grades, pass the tests or something similar. But Whitney said something 8 . She said that her goal was to make just one good friend.

    One morning, Donnie copied the math problem clearly and 7, but he missed the fourth problem and began to cry with his head in his arms.

I didn't know what to do. Suddenly, a smile 8on Mary's face. From the desk she got a box that 9 pencils. “Look, Donnie,” she said gently, kneeling (蹲在) beside him. “I've got something to 10 you.” She took out the pencils, one at a time, and placed them on his desk.

The pencil became Donnie's prize. That, together with Mary's encouragement, gradually made him understand 15the meaning of making mistakes is —it's all right to make mistakes as long as you erase them and try again.

    Young Scottish brothers take on a list of 500 adventures

    For Ollie and Harry Ferguson, life is an adventure. For the past four years, the brothers have been working to1a list of 500 challenges and experiences.

    "The idea came about actually from the boys," their father, MacNeill Ferguson, said. "The boys were just asked one day if they could2 some cool things for us to do as a family. They put forward some impossible ideas firstly, like going on a trip to Mars, International Sausage Day and all kinds of3 kids requests. They built the list to a hundred, then kept finding new things we wanted to go and try ... until it got up to 500." They're all listed on the brothers' Facebook page.

    So far they have built an igloo, explored the wilderness, and sent their Lego men to the depths of the ocean and into outer space. Perhaps their biggest 4is playing out right now on the high seas. Last year, Ollie and Harry launched(使下水) a toy ship from the Scottish coast. The ship named "Adventure" sailed across the North Sea to Scandinavia. It then began a ride on a Norwegian boat and was launched 5, this time off the coast of west Africa. It's equipped with a tracking device(跟踪器), allowing the brothers to6every step of the sailing.  But the battery(电池) on the tracking device is becoming weak, so Harry and Ollie hope a passing ship 7 their boat and is able to recharge(充电) its battery, allowing the adventure to continue.

    "Harry, where would you like the boat to go?" Ferguson asked. "Without (a) 8 , that would be China because we all love China." Harry answered. He thought that even there are so many difficulties, the boat will reach China.

    My name is Liu Na. I'm unhappy because I'm getting heavy. I'm sorry to say that I exercise 1 than once a week. I know it is not a2way of living for a 14-year old girl. But I really don't have much time to3. In fact, unlike other girls, I love4. I used to be a member of the swimming team and the5 team at school. I went 6 on Saturdays and played basketball after school on weekdays. 7 the sports teams last year, because I had to spend much more 8on my study. Now I have little time to play sports. I9 watch TV or play computer games, either.
