In the Middle Eastern country of Syria (叙利亚), there are over 4 million refugees (难民). Youssef was 10 years old when a local Syrian musician discovered his talent: a deep, powerful voice. However, Syria's civil (内部的) war took place. He and his family lost their home.
When the Action for Hope Music School announced that it was looking for talented children to train, his family encouraged him to attend the school. A year and half later, the now 14-year-old, Youssef, with another 11 children, was chosen to take part in a concert.
Youssef, a shy boy, was a lead singer in the concert. He gave a confident performance of traditional Syrian songs. “We only heard the sound of a mortar ( 迫 击 炮 ). It fell near us. Many buildings fell down. That is all I remember,” said Youssef. “Music makes me forget everything. Music is the most important thing.”
Basma, director of Action for Hope, said the music school offers strength to the children who suffer (遭受) from the war. They can find a good way to express themselves and stop thinking of themselves as refugees.
“Art gives strength. It comes from the ability to create,” Basma said. “People who are in difficult conditions need this strength much more than the rich.”

Swimming is a very popular game in the world. Many people like swimming in summer, and in the other three seasons too. They think water makes them feel cool and swimming makes them keep healthy. But sometimes it's also not safe if you don't know how to keep safe when swimming.
If you swim in a wrong place, it may not be safe. A lot of people die (死) when they are enjoying themselves in the water, and most of them are students. Now some people are not careful in swimming. They often think they can swim very well, so nothing will happen to them in water.
If you go swimming in summer, remembering the following rules will be very useful. Don't get into water when you are by yourself. If there is a “No swimming” sign, don't get into water. If you remember these, swimming will be safe and enjoyable.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}⑶To shake hands or to kiss? Wait to see what your host does.
{#blank#}4{#/blank#}⑷Always accept it when offered, whether it looks terrible or delicious. Try to cat all of it and say it tastes good. Most people are proud of their cooking even if they shouldn't be. Don't hurt their feelings.
{#blank#}5{#/blank#}⑸The most important tip for being a good guest is to know when to say goodbye. The secret is to leave while the host is still enjoying your company and wants you to stay longer.
Tornadoes(龙卷风) are whirlwinds(旋风) with speeds of up to 400 km per hour. In Britain, there were very few tornadoes in the past. Now, there are more than 50 tornadoes a year. Tornadoes are only one sign of the world's climate changes. There are many others. The number of thunderstorms is increasing, and there are more floods in some parts of the world, and there's much less rain in others. Scientists still do not know enough about the reasons for these climate changes. Most scientists think human activities are the problem.
Cutting down trees, burning too much oil, and the increase in the number of cars are some of the things that cause the problems. Global(全球的) temperatures are rising because of these things. Scientists believe that if the temperatures continue to rise, the ice at the poles will melt(融化) .
If the ice melts, sea levels will rise. Some islands might disappear completely. All this means that unless we do something to stop global warming now, there may be many other dramatic changes in the future.
