"Robots, drones(无人机) and AI will do around 90% of the housework by 2040, " scientists from King's College said.

Mischa Dohler and Dr. Ian Pearson wrote a report to predict what homes will look like in 20 years. In it, they said that housework like washing the clothes and doing the dishes would be much easier because of technology progress(进步). If technology kept making progress, they expected that people would spend less than two hours a day in doing housework.

But most British people still don't believe their predictions. Just 2/5 of the people think that house robots will become a reality(现实) by 2040.

Predictions of Automation(自动化) by 2040

  ▲

There will be house robots in people's homes. They will be able to do some of the housework all by themselves.

Drones

Small drones will be common. Some will keep the house clean, water plants and keep an eye on your house. Some will keep you warm with special light when you move around the house.

AI Servants

They will do almost everything for you. They will be able to pay the bills(账单), do some shopping and find ways to save your time and money.

Super Smart Fridges

They will learn what you eat. They can tell you how much food there is in the fridge, and even recommend(推荐) recipes.

 阅读下列短文, 从每小题所给的 A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项

Some animals can easily find their way home after a long journey. How do they make it? Scientific research shows that they are born with certain unusual abilities for direction.

A certain kind of ants, for example, can count their steps to avoid getting lost. They can go as far as 110 metres and bring food home. These ants live in the open desert(沙漠), so they have nothing to guide them along the way. It's like someone walking six kilometres through a dark forest.

Some fish have an unbelievable sense of smell. They can smell even a single drop of their home water in a large sea area. Some sea birds have a similar ability. They are able to make a smell map of their flying area.

Some animals can sense the earth's magnetic field (磁场), while humans can't. This magnetic field guides a certain kind of fish when they swim a long way to a place and then back. How can this kind of fish do that? It is still a mystery. Scientists have no good answers yet.

However, animals with such unusual abilities still have difficulty dealing with environmental changes caused by human activities. For example, many birds depend on stars for direction, but they get lost easily at night when city light s are kept on all night. To solve this problem, we can simply turn off some lights at night. Clearly, one small act of humans may mean a lot to animals.

Have you ever read the cartoon books The Adventures of Tintin? There are many stories in the books. Each is about an exciting trip of a young reporter named Tintin. When Tintin is on the road, his best friend, a dog named Snowy, is always by his side. Sometimes the two travel around the world. Sometimes they go with their friends.

Tintin, Snowy and their friends aren't real. But thanks to the writer, Georges Prosper Remi, they look quite real.

Born on 22 May 1907, Georges Prosper Remi was a famous cartoon writer and an artist from Belgium.From an early age, he liked to draw pictures very much. Later he created a new name for himself. It was Herge. From then on, he always signed his works not with his real name—Georges Prosper Remi, but with this new name—Herge.

The series first came out in French on 10 January 1929. Herge thanked French illustrator(插图画家) Alain Gree so much. Once Herge travelled to Paris to meet Alain Gree and asked for some advice. Then the two became good friends.

In 1979, Herge got a serious illness. Later his illness became more and more serious. Herge died on 3 March —1983. His death received front— page coverage in many newspapers. Although Herge passed away, his works are still loved by people from all over the world.
