When talking about classical music, what can you think of? Is it a big orchestra with an old guy in a black suit{#blank#}1{#/blank#} waves a stick in front? You are{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(part) right. But there is a lot more about it. Classical music can be as simple as just one singer singing a song. It can also mean{#blank#}3{#/blank#} orchestra with hundreds of musicians. Classical music can express an idea, explore a theme or convey emotions. It has its roots in the traditions of{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(Europe) art and concert music with a history of more than 1,000 years. Classical music is usually{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(serious) than other types of music. Listeners are supposed{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(stay) quiet and still.

Nowadays, more and more students are crazy about classical music{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(composer), such as Mozart, Chopin and Beethoven. They think their music can make them calm down, sleep well{#blank#}8{#/blank#} become smarter. They can perform better in tests as well. Besides, according to{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(they) musical preference, it is possible to tell the types of their personality. Professionals like teachers can use the personality information to determine whether they have a particular talent for music, which they never{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(know) before.

As summer approaches, many kids and teenagers may find that they have more time in hand. One great way to make use of the extra time is to go on an adventure and travel. Clearly, I am not a naturally adventurous person, but I have found that taking the risk and challenging myself to explore and travel to unfamiliar places can be a very rewarding experience.

Because I am usually quite busy during the school year, most of my travels take place during the summer. Over the past few summers, I have hiked in the Grand Canyon, explored Niagara Falls, and camped out in upstate New York. Although these experiences are varied, they are similar in that they instil （逐渐灌输 ）a sense of appreciation for nature and a more balanced view on life. When I hiked in the Grand Canyon, for example, I was in awe （敬畏） of the geological influences that shaped the canyon.

Adventures, of course, are not limited to hiking. There are many other choices, such as camping, volunteering in a foreign environment and travelling to different countries. In my opinion, adventures are more enjoyable with family or a few friends. There is a sense of bonding that one only gets through spending time together in outdoor adventures. For example, when I was in Boy Scouts, I often went on weekend camping trips with my friends. When I came back from a Boy Scouts camping trip, I often was eager to go outside more and explore the parks and nature around me.

Next fall, I will attend college. In the meantime though, I hope to make the most of my summer to explore and travel. Now, I am planning on hiking and camping out in Maine.

When I visited Maine last fall, I was amazed by how beautiful it was and the tall trees and coasts that exist, and I really hope to enjoy the beauty of nature there this summer.

This wasn't the way I wanted to see Rome. Sure, it felt  1 to spend Christmas there and stand in awe of the city's attractions. But life wasn't meant to turn out like this. 

I was supposed to go to Rome with my mom back in 

2012. However, life had different  2 . A week before our trip, I got a stomach infection, a condition that required a week of  3 . What's worse, my mom  4 a cough, which later proved a stage-four cancer. 

My mom spent the final months of her life5 the terrible disease though it was a losing 6 . After she passed away, I 7 a trip to Rome. And 8 , you never get used to a world that mom isn't a part of. You just deal with it because you don't really have a  9 . 

I spent two weeks doing all the things we had wanted to do. Maybe she wasn't physically there, but I  10 her presence every minute. Her presence also11 me that life isn't about the things we buy or the money that we have. It's about making 12 with the people we love. They never really 13 us since they are constantly influencing our lives in  14 ways. 

After my trip to Rome, 15 knew that my mom would always be there because she had forever changed my life in the best possible way. 

Last week the electricity in my flat went out. I had just got home from work and was1 making my tea, when all of a sudden the power was off. I was surrounded by complete2 . The lights had gone out, the oven had stopped working and my phone was no longer3 . My flatmates and I tried to4 it but we soon realised that we couldn't. We would have to wait for a(n)5 to come the next morning. This left me a whole night without any6 . My typical evening is spent watching TV and looking through social media. At that night this wasn't7 . Due to the lack of lights I couldn't even read a book. We weren't prepared with candles or matches. We just rely too much on electricity, expecting that it will8 . 

So for me it was an early night to sleep. And I couldn't help but think, do we9 electricity too much? That night, losing our electricity felt like losing a basic10 , as basic as running water. But really, electricity is a luxury(奢侈品) that we've grown to11 for granted. I use electricity all the time, even when it's not really necessary. I use it to12 my phone when I have to wait for even just a minute, for example when waiting for friends. 

Our overuse of electricity is a big13 . It contributes to global warming, which is something that we really should be worried about. It is harming our environment and we need to do what we can to stop it. How would we14 in a world without electricity? Cutting back on our use of electricity would save energy resources so that they could last for longer. I know15 that I can cut down on my use of electricity. 

It was a terrible day. Snow had been falling all day long, making the trip risky. I would rather have been in my 1 home than drive along on such a cold day, but I didn't have a choice. I had to have my paper work handed in and then pick up my son.

The snow 2 to fall as we drove along for the 15-mile trip back home. I slowed the car and glanced (瞥) at my son in his heavy coat as he looked 3 out of the window with a blank expression. In the eyes of the world he was looked upon as a mentally disabled child.

4 , over the years what I saw was a beautiful, 5 and merciful (仁慈的) soul. He had shown me more about love than I could have ever 6 on my own.

I 7 the car even more as we approached a sharp curve (曲线) . As we rounded it I saw a shivering (颤抖的) young woman in a light jacket walking in the snow storm. I 8 and let her in. She was heading for her mum's house to visit her son whom she hadn't seen for months. She had experienced a lot of 9 and tragedies (悲剧) . Yet, she still held out hope for a new job and tried to 10 a new life for her son and herself.

I took her as far as I was able to and dropped her off. She 11 me for the lift and I told her I wished I could have done more to help. Then as we were about to leave, my sweet son took off his coat, 12 down the window and gave it to her. She put it on, 13 and waved to us as we pulled out on the road.

In this world we will face many problems and 14 . Sometimes it seems that our entire lives are a trip down a curvy and dangerous road. Yet the power of 15 takes us straight back to a broad smooth highway.

Volunteering has been a way of life for me for the past five years since I was fifteen.

In 2020 I1 with a newly founded social enterprise, which conducted cooking lessons for visually impaired (视障) trainee2 . I absolutely loved it as it involved meaningful 3 with people and I was fully4 throughout the entire time I was there. This was unlike some other types of volunteering, which may involve mostly behind-the-scenes work that can get5 after a while.

We called ourselves "sighted assistants" and each of us was6 with a visually impaired trainee chef. As a volunteer, I would walk with the trainee to the Enabling Village7 , and then ensure their 8 as they learned to cook a new dish. This included helping them9 the position of the sink, ensuring proper use of electrical appliances,10 boiling and hot objects, as well as being careful with knives among other things.

Being there with them made me truly11 appreciate how difficult life can be when you are partially sighted or completely blind. Every tiny task12 requires massive effort. There are so many people with visual impairments, I realized13 . While medicine still does not have the power to cure all of these conditions, we are never short of ways to empower these individuals by making life14 easier and 15 more meaningful for them.
