But there is a lot more about it. Classical music can be as simple as just one singer singing a song. It can also mean{#blank#}3{#/blank#} orchestra with hundreds of musicians. Classical music can express an idea, explore a theme or convey emotions. It has its roots in the traditions of{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(Europe) art and concert music with a history of more than 1,000 years. Classical music is usually{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(serious) than other types of music. Listeners are supposed{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(stay) quiet and still.

Nowadays, more and more students are crazy about classical music{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(composer), such as Mozart, Chopin and Beethoven. They think their music can make them calm down, sleep well{#blank#}8{#/blank#} become smarter. They can perform better in tests as well. Besides, according to{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(they) musical preference, it is possible to tell the types of their personality. Professionals like teachers can use the personality information to determine whether they have a particular talent for music, which they never{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(know) before.

When I was a little boy, the dinner on the eve of the Spring Festival was{#blank#}1{#/blank#}I looked forward to most. It was not only for the delicious food that we seldom got to eat, but also an opportunity to have the family gathered together. I would run {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (happy) with my sister in the house, while my mom was preparing food in the kitchen. She would put some tokens in some dumplings; candies for a sweet life, and peanuts for a long and healthy {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. In the evening, we would sit around the table, toasted each other and enjoyed the homemade dishes, which tasted much better than anything {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (cook) in the restaurant.

However, for the last three years, we {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (eat) out for the Spring Festival family dinner, and we have enjoyed it no less than eating at home.{#blank#}6{#/blank#} I don't understand why some people refuse this change. Can't they admit that the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (prepare) for a dinner is hard work? It is not worth the effort of spending so much time cooking a single meal. We work all year, so why can't one day be about spending time with family and {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (relax). Eating out is a good choice and it has nothing to do {#blank#}9{#/blank#} loss of traditions. We still have the dinner with the same people, just in a different place. The occasion is more {#blank#}10{#/blank#}_(enjoy) without that tiring cooking.

The public footpath laid barely 20 meters from where I stood, promising a walk along the river, passing fields and through woodland, well away from any road. Yet there was something in my way—the River Thames.

I checked my map to see how to reach the path, but there was no other footpath that would lead me to the island on which it sat. It was only accessible by boat—kid's dream. Similar to a talent show, some performances are educational but mostly, they just make you laugh. Talent is irrelevant, and audience engagement through call and response is essential.

Away from phones and peers back home, social norms fade and space for self-exploration forms. Shy kids come out of their shells, and cool kids let_their_guard_down. They get to open up this door to a part of themselves that they wouldn't have felt safe to reveal at school or at home.

It's been a decade since my last performance as a camp counselor, and I never thought of skits from a skill-building perspective. But I now realize this rich camp tradition left a great impression on me. Through camp skits, I developed my sense of humor, built confidence in front of a crowd, and learned how to accept others for their quirks（怪癖）.

Maybe we can make our schools or communities more like summer camps by bringing the silliness of skits into our families and classrooms to reconnect with ourselves and each other. The next time you're sitting around a campfire with friends and family, give it a try. Embrace the discomfort and invite your loved ones to join in on the improvising（即兴创作）. And remember: the more funny noises and childlike humor, the better.

Juleus Ghunta is a published children's author and award-winning poet. But growing up, he could barely read. Ghunta's family lived in a rural part of Western Jamaica. His mother often had to make tough choices about how to use their limited resources, including a decision to send his oldest sister to school, and to keep Ghunta at home.

When Ghunta finally went to school, he couldn't catch up on his reading skills. Not only had he been kept home from school as a child, but he had not been exposed to books. By the time he entered the sixth grade, he could spell his name, but he still couldn't make out words, spell, or read with understanding.

When Ghunta was about 12, a young teacher decided to start a special reading program for struggling students. Ghunta was the first student to sign up. The teacher was incredibly kind to him. She did not ask anything of Ghunta, except that he worked hard and believed in himself.

Under her guidance, Ghunta's reading skills finally started to improve. He started to feel more confident. "She had left me with the gift of literacy," he said, "and with the value as a human being." His life took a new direction. He graduated from elementary school with a number of academic awards, including one for "most improved in reading". He went on to college. Today, he is the author of two children's books, about overcoming difficult experiences in childhood. He's now working on his first full-length collection of poetry.

"I would love her to see the significant impact that she has made on my life, and the ways in which I have carried this memory of her—the hope and the light—with me and how it continues to be a source of joy."

I'm a fan of people sharing their personal stories. Hearing people's stories is a source of constant 1 for me to write. Yet, when it comes to telling my personal stories, I often 2 to find my voice and courage.

As a shy person, talking about myself makes me feel 3 . It requires a lot of mental 4 for me to feel okay sharing my stories and I also think I don't have stories worth 5 .

As I wrote in a blog post a few weeks ago, it becomes increasingly important for me to be an authentic (真实的) self. So I 6 to take a big leap (跳跃) and share something deeply personal in my weekly newsletter. I wrote about my struggle with procrastination (拖延症) and my 7 to finish my book.

I was nervous to 8 that email. But I decided it was something I wanted to be 9 about with everyone. Several hours later, I received dozens of heart-warming 10 . Many people said they were 11 reading my book. What was even more touching were emails from people who shared their own struggles with procrastination and writing. Over the Internet, across the miles I had the chance to connect with total 12 with the same problem as me. By telling our story, we 13 ourselves from those binds (束缚) and give rise to an opportunity of connection. I feel a stronger 14 to share my stories in the most authentic ways possible, even if it's online 15 .

I was sitting at my desk when another graduate student in my lab approached me. "Can you help?" he asked. His experiment wasn't working and he desperately needed help. I was then a fifth year PhD student, and I took pride in being the senior member of the lab, whom everyone looked up to. But that also meant I was the one everyone turned to for help — which ate away bours, days, and sometimes weeks that I could have spent on my own research.

There were many reasons I had a hard time saying no to such pleas (恳求). I was new to the United States for graduate school. I found it difficult to make new friends and discover activities I enjoyed. So I spent a huge chank of my time in the lab, with my lab-mates serving as my primary source of social connection. I feared that if I turned down their requests, I'd lose their favor.

But the extra responsibilities came at a cost. I had to work extra hours to catch up with my own work, and I often made sacrifices to my personal life.

It wasn't until my wife gave birth to our first child that I realized how thin I had stretched myself and how misguided my priorities(优先次序) were. While she lay in a hospital bed in the early stages of labor, I sat nearby hunched(伏首前倾的) over my laptop finishing up a work report. Hours later, after hearing my daughter's first cry and watching her tiny fingers grab tightly onto mine, it dawned on me: I should have been fully present during my daughter's birth. I was clearly spending too much time working if my job had intruded(侵入) into one of the most precious moments of my life.

From then on ,I decided to spend more time with my family by declining extra assignments and carefully considering each request for help. I still enjoyed collaborating with others, but I prioritized mutually beneficial tasks or those my manager asked me to take on, rather than accepting everything that came my way.

I noticed many benefits: no longer working overtime and improved work performance. I was also pleased to discover that "Sorry , I'd love to help but I have a deadline coming up" is an acceptable response to a request for assistance.

It's hard to say "no " to those you work with. But I've learned that sometimes that's the best course of action to avoid an excessive workload and lead a freer and happier life.
