Driverless(无人驾驶) helpers

You can see different kinds of driverless cars at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. For example, when you feel tired, you can have a rest in a driverless minibus. When you feel hungry, you can buy food from a "driverless car store". Another kind of driverless car can even send things to you just like a postman. They help to make the Games a bigger success.

Space classes

On March 23, 2022, three Chinese astronauts gave their second lecture(课程) from Tiangong space station. They did several experiments(实验). They also showed some tools to study science. The three astronauts gave their first lecture last December. Millions of students watched them and learned many fantastic science facts.

3D photos

This May, a middle school in Beijing used 3D­printing technology to print graduation photos(毕业照) for Grade 9 students. Students can touch the "faces" of their classmates. This technology can also help blind students "see" their classmates.

Recently, a tourist said in a video that there was no hot water on the Huangshan Mountain. Some tourists also complained(抱怨) online that they failed to get hot water for cooking instant noodles since it was banned(禁止) by the scenic area. For a time, "Why doesn't the Huangshan Scenic Area provide hot water for instant noodles?" became a hot topic on the Internet. Many people thought this rule was unreasonable.

Later, the staff of the Huangshan Scenic Area(景区) replied to the question: In order to protect the animals, plants and environment of the Huangshan Mountain, tourists are advised not to eat instant noodles in the area.

Before the rule was made, leftovers(残羹) and packaging materials from instant noodles were often found throwing in the scenic area. These seriously harm the soil and plants. In addition, animals, such as squirrels and birds, may eat these leftovers by mistake, which poses a threat(威胁) to their health.

In fact, eating instant noodles is not banned on the mountain but it is not encouraged, according to a leader of the scenic area. Actually, the ban on sales of instant noodles on the mountain was put in place in 2006.

The staff at the scenic area said, "Tourists can get hot water at the rest area in the scenic area. They are also allowed to bring their own food products such as bread and self-heating meals. For those who do not bring food, the scenic area has supermarkets and restaurants."

This action quickly received understanding and support from the public. "This is necessary. We should follow the rule while enjoying the beauty of nature," one tourist shared his opinion online. "I support the rule, and we should all play a part in protecting the environment."

Since 2017, Jiading, Shanghai has built community libraries under the" Home Study" program. Its purpose is to encourage its local people to read more. Community libraries get help from local people and companies. The local companies provide space for free. Community volunteers also often provide help for the local libraries. If you enter the community library in Nanxiang Old Town, you will find it has a strong Chinese style. Among all community libraries in Jiading, the one in Nanxiang Old Town is the most special. It is next to the famous Tanyuan Garden, which was the private garden of Li Liufang, a scholar(学者) in the Ming Dynasty. The library is on the first floor of a building in the ancient Chinese style. There are 4,100 Chinese picture books in it. Zhang Bo works with volunteers to provide more books for their readers of all age groups. Some time ago, Zhang noticed that a girl often came to the library after school by herself. The girl did her homework at the library, but she never talked to anyone. Zhang learned that she had trouble communicating with others, so Zhang and other volunteers made friends with her. They became her" family away from home"." That is true community spirit," Zhang said.

With the rapid development of short videos, their widespread use has become a major trend. A recent study surveyed 1,557 Chinese people about their short video— watching habits. It found that people may be so immersed(沉迷的) in short videos that they cannot stop watching them.
