It was my first day at Grade 8. And the first lesson was {#blank#}1{#/blank#}English. When I was doing nothing, Mr. Li, our new English teacher, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} into the classroom. To my surprise, he held up a book, The Collected Works of Edgar Allan Poe, and asked “Who{#blank#}3{#/blank#}it yet? “. I put my hand up, because Poe was my favorite writer. Mr. Li asked if I really understood what the author tried to say in his book. My reply made him smile, and he asked me{#blank#}4{#/blank#}an essay on that subject. Mr. Li said “You have a gift for writing, Tony.” After that, English classes became a new interest for me. And now I realize how{#blank#}5{#/blank#} English is.

Bill, Frank and I are good friends. We like doing different {#blank#}1{#/blank#} on holiday. Last summer, Bill went to Paris. He said he liked Paris. He wanted {#blank#}2{#/blank#} more about it. There he {#blank#}3{#/blank#} some famous museums and other interesting places. Frank went to China. He went to the Great Wall {#blank#}4{#/blank#} the Tian'anmen Square. He took many photos during his trip. He showed(展示) them to us when he {#blank#}5{#/blank#} home. They were really nice. He said he would keep these {#blank#}6{#/blank#} forever(永远). I didn't go out last summer. I only {#blank#}7{#/blank#} in my city and went to the park {#blank#}8{#/blank#} my home. The park was beautiful. There were trees and {#blank#}9{#/blank#}. There were also many kinds of birds. I enjoyed {#blank#}10{#/blank#} in the park.
