你的好朋友要去英国,他想了解在英国如何去看病,读下面的短文,比较两国的差异。

    There is a National Health Service in Britain. People usually call it "the NHS". When people are ill, they can get free treatment(治疗). ① The government pays for the treatment. In Britain everyone has a local doctor. The local doctor is a general practitioner (全科医生)(GP). A GP is a doctor who treats patients with all kinds of illness. He may not have specialists (专家) usually work in hospitals.

    If a man is ill and wants to see his doctor, he calls to make an appointment first. If he is too ill and he can't go out, his doctor will come to his house. If the patient has to take medicine, the doctor gives him a prescription(处方). ② The patient has to pay some money for the prescription. He goes to the chemist's shop and buys the medicine there. The price is the same as any kind of medicine. ③But children, students, old people or people without work don't have to pay for their medicine

举一反三

 Recently the students in our school all take part in sports. They fall into three groups.

 The students who put much more stress on their study go to the playground. They just want to go back to their classrooms with a clearer and quicker mind. Most of them choose long-distance running. So they can be well regarded as study-oriented (倾向的) sports participants (参加者).

 The students in the second group are real sports lovers. They put aside their studies for a match. They join in the sport that interests them most. They may be called fun-oriented sports participants.

 The students in the third group want beauty from sports. Boys want to become strong; girls want to be slim and graceful. They are very careful in choosing the kind of exercise they do, and are afraid that certain sports may influence their body shapes. They may be beauty-oriented sports participants.

Now, if you look around the school yard, you can't find the bookworms (书呆子) any more, and instead, there are healthy, strong, clever and modernized students everywhere.

    Breakfast cereals(谷类早餐食物) are popular in many countries. In the USA, they are served in nine out of ten homes. They are made from grains(谷物)such as corn, wheat and rice. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

    In the beginning, cereals were healthy food. In the late 1800s, some doctors in the USA made them in hospitals and gave them to their patients. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} However, this soon changed, and from the 19305, some companies began to add sugar to their cereals and sell them as children's food. They made a lot of money this way, but they weren't healthy food anymore. These days some children s cereals are 50% sugar {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    This is how cereal in different shapes, like stars and balls is made

    First, the grain is taken to the factory, where it is cleaned and checked.

    Then it is prepared for cooking. It is made into flour(粉) and mixed with other ingredients(原料){#blank#}4{#/blank#}

    When it is soft, it is put into special machines which make it into shapes like stars, circles or even letters.

    The shapes are baked(烘烤) in an oven to dry them. Then they are "puffed "in another machine to make them light and full of air.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

Students and teachers will receive badges(徽章) that say “City of London School for Girls 125”. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} A businessman named William Ward established (建立) our school in 1894. At that time, there was little opportunity for girls to get an education, especially those from poor families.{#blank#}3{#/blank#} Girls were not expected to go to secondary school or get a university education. But Ward had high hopes for young women's futures. He thought women should have more influence in society, as well as the ability to realize their dreams.{#blank#}4{#/blank#} Our newest school building is modern-looking. It opened with 446 students on Sept 18, 1969.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}Opposite the school, there is part of the wall of a great Roman fort(罗马堡垒) built in 120.
