A layover (临时滞留) or flight delay can be extremely fun in these international airports.

Munich Airport, Germany

Aviation (航空) lovers passing through Munich can take a behind-the-scenes tour to learn how the airport operates. Visitors can also tour three historic aircraft and a retired rescue helicopter, climb up to a 28-metre high observation platform for an up-close view of take-offs and landings, and watch films on aviation in the airport's 60-seat cinema. Travelers can also kill layover time at an 18-hole mini-golf course, or even stop in for a teeth cleaning at the airport dental office.

Free movies at one of two airport cinemas also keep passengers entertained.

It was a hot, humid day, and my brother Walt and I had decided that the only way to survive it would be to go swimming in a deep swimming hole across Mr. Blickez's pasture(牧场) and through some woods.

The only problem with our plan was that this pasture was guarded by a huge, mean Hereford bull. Mr. Blickez had told us that Elsie was the meanest bull in the township, maybe even the county, and we believed him. But the hotter it got, the more we thought there was something fishy about his claim. For one thing, we remembered Mr. Blickez liked telling tall tales; for another, Elsie seemed like an odd name for a bull.

Finally, I talked Mom into asking permission for us to walk through the pasture, but then another problem surfaced. Mom said she would talk to Mr. Blickez if we would take our cousin Joanie along with us. Joanie was almost two years older than me and a head taller. If her teasing ever got around my grade school, it would be all over for me. In fact, I still had a headache from a quarrel with her that morning. “I'm not going swimming with that dumb girl cousin.” I told my mom.

“Either Joanie goes with, or you stay home alone,” Mom said in her serious tone. I gave in and we set out. On our way across the pasture, Walt yelled suddenly. Elsie had approached him quietly and was licking(舔) his back.Joanie and I dove under the wire fence, but while I was on the ground I looked up and saw that Elsie wasn't a big mean bull after all. She was going to keep licking my brother's back as long as he stood still.

We had many good days growing up and visiting our secret swimming hole guarded by the so-called “big mean bull”. And as it turned out, for a girl cousin, Joanie hasn't been too bad. She's been one of my best friends over the years.

If your job requires a lot of sitting, you could be putting your health at danger.

The American Journal of Epidemiology(流行病学)did a study in 2010 on the connection between sitting and an individual's physical health. In the study,53,440 working men and 69,776 working women were surveyed on their time spent sitting. The subjects were all disease free when employed. The researchers identified 11,307 deaths in men and 7,923 deaths in women during the 14-year follow-up.

The findings: Women who reported sitting for more than six hours per day had an approximately 40 higher all-cause death rate than those who reported less than three hour a day,and men had an approximately 20 higher death rate.

Well, now is a fine time to get this information. But why didn't they tell me this years ago?I would have planned on taking a more active job instead of the sedentary(坐着的)job of an editor.

So what can you do if you have to work for a living at a job that requires a lot of sitting? Here are some ideas:

Take frequent breaks. It is recommended that workers vary activities, change their position, and take short breaks every 20 minutes to rest muscles and increase blood circulation.Get a standing desk. Some studies have shown that working from an upright position may be better for health. The serious fitness people can even purchase a treadmill (跑步机)desk. It only goes about one mile per hour.Have a walking meeting. If your group is kind of small, going for a walk while discussing topics is a good alternative.

The Terracotta Army Museum is one of the must-visit attractions for all travelers to China. The attraction is located in Xi'an, in west China's Shanxi Province.

    What's special?

The terracotta Army is the buried army of Qin Shi Huang, an ancient Chinese emperor. These ancient sculptures were built and buried over two thousand years ago near the city of Xi'an. They were discovered in 1974 by farmers digging a well looking for underground water. Over a thousand terracotta warriors and horses have been uncovered since then. Each warrior is made of clay (泥土). They are around two meters tall. The sculptures are so detailed that it is possible to guess the age, rank and personality of each one. None of the soldiers are the same.

    The best time to visit

The Terracotta Army is an indoor attraction, which is not likely to be affected by weather, so it can be visited all year round.

As the Terracotta Army Museum is one of the must-visit attractions in China, it is crowded most of the time. We advise our customers to avoid the following periods when the museum is particularly crowded:

National Day holiday(October 1-7), when it is fully packed.

    Labour Day holiday(May 1-3)

Weather in winter is dry, cold and the least comfortable, and it's also the worst season for air quality, but it's also low season.

Travel style: private, group or independent?

A private tour means a lot of flexibility and you will be well taken care of by a private guide and driver. The museum is crowded most of the time, but our guides know how to escape the crowds, and help our customers to enjoy more in the museum. See our 3-Day Terracotta Warriors Private Tour.

Going with a group you won't get lost, but i lacks flexibility and personal service.

Travelling on your own you may meet a lot of trouble, such as wasting time on finding a taxi or public bus to the attraction, lining up for tickets, reading maps, making sense of Chinese signs, etc.

Tattoos (纹身) are becoming more and more common. But they are not a new thing. Scientists have found some frozen bodies from around 3,000 BC and their skin shows the marks of tattoos. For example, Otzi, the Iceman (the oldest body ever found), was discovered in the mountains of Austria. He had many different lines and crosses tattooed on his back and his knees.

The most common places to get tattoos are the tops of the arms for men and the bottoms of the backs for women. Any mark can be used but there are some common ideas. Some people like to get animals, like dragons, birds and tigers. Other people like to get something written in a foreign language, so Chinese and Japanese words are common in America and the UK. If you can't read the language, make sure you get someone to check what they represent because the tattoo artist could write anything and you would never know.

It is a big decision to get a tattoo because they are very difficult to remove. It is possible with expensive laser surgery (激光手术) but this is very painful and amazingly expensive and the skin will never be perfect afterwards. You want to do a test, to see how you look with a tattoo, you can get a temporary tattoo which disappears after about a month. This kind is very popular in India, where people often have them for festivals.

In some countries, such as Japan and Korea, tattoos are still connected with law-breaking activities and it isn't normal to see a tattoo in public. In many places of Europe and America, most people don't care very much whether you have a tattoo or not, though there are some types of job where they don't like tattoos. But some Presidents of the USA have had them.

NASA has a new job listing, and it's no joke. The US space agency is looking for a "joker" to join their planned mission to Mars.

A mission to Mars is no laughing matter. On average, the red planet is 140 million miles (225 million kilometers) away from Earth. A trip there would take around eight months in a small spacecraft. And Mars has a communications delay of 20 minutes. This means that astronauts will have to wait 20 minutes for a reply, when an emergency happens.

"When you're living with others in a confined space for a long period of time, such as on a mission to Mars, problems are likely to occur," Jeffrey Johnson, a scientist at the University of Florida, told The Guardian.

This is probably why NASA wants an astronaut with a sense of humor. "These are people that have the ability to pull everyone together," Johnson said.

In stressful situations, perhaps humor is a way to know we aren't alone. By laughing together, we share our stress. Then we can focus on our jobs instead of just worrying.

There are other examples of team "clowns". One example is the journey to the South Pole led by Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen. It was a difficult journey full of danger. Adolf Lindstrom, a cook at Amundsen's team, was a "clown". He made people laugh through the whole journey. Amundsen later wrote that Lindstrom was the most valuable member of the team.

But if you're hoping that your favorite TV comedian will fly to Mars, that probably won't happen.

"Being funny won't be enough to land somebody the job," Johnson said. "They also need to be an excellent engineer."

Besides, they must be in top physical condition.
