When a consumer finds that something he or she bought is faulty or in some other way does not live up to what the producer says for it, the first step is to present the warranty(保单),or any other records that might help, at the store of buying. In most cases, this action will produce results.

However, if it does not, there are various means the consumer may use to gain satisfaction. A simple and common method used by many consumers is to complain directly to the store manager. In general, the “higher up” the consumer takes his or her complaint, the faster he or she can expect it to be settled. In such a case, it is usually settled in the consumer's favour, taking it as true that he or she has a just right.

Consumers should complain in person whenever possible, but if they cannot get to the place of buying, it is acceptable to phone or write the complaint in a letter.

Complaining is usually most effective when it is done politely but firmly, and especially when the consumer can show clearly what is wrong with what was bought in question. If this cannot be done, the consumer will succeed best by presenting specific information as to what is wrong, rather than by making general statements. For example, “The left speaker does not work at all and the sound coming out of the right one is unclear” is better than “This stereo(立体音响) does not work.”

The store manager may advise the consumer to write to the producer, if so, the consumer should do this, stating the complaint as politely and as firmly as possible. But if a polite complaint does not achieve the expected result, the consumer can go a step further. He or she can threaten to take the seller to court or report the seller to a public organization responsible for protecting consumers' rights.

The Lazy Donkey

A man bought a donkey at the market one day and took him home on approval. Now the man owned several donkeys already and he knew each one's character very well.

One of the donkeys was very strong and brave. Another was eager to please but quickly exhausted. One donkey was very lazy. He hated going to work in the morning and he did as little as he possibly could all day long. When the other animals were being loaded up he always tried to be the last so that he would get the lightest load.

The man led the new donkey into the stable yard. For a moment he stood sniffing at his new companions. Then, without hesitation, he trotted up to the lazy donkey and began feeding comfortably at his side.

Though it was late in the day, the man immediately led the new donkey out of the yard, straight back to the market.

“You cannot have given him a fair trial yet,” said the merchant. “It is only ten minutes since you bought him.”

“I don't need to try him any more,” replied the man. “I know just what he is like from the friend he chose for himself. Take him away and give me my money back. I can do without donkeys like him.”

阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。

While many of us go to sleep before midnight, some teenagers choose to stay up much later. They are not driven by the burning desire to write a better essay or achieve a higher grade. Instead, they are busy playing online games. Known as young Internet addicts, they have long been a problem in China. A report released(发布) in 2010 by the China Youth Association for Network Development showed that there were over 24 million young Internet addicts among China's young urban Internet users. The report also said that over 18 million youth tended to develop Internet addiction.

To deal with the problem of Internet addiction among teenagers, the Cyberspace Administration of China released draft regulations (法规草案) in January which carried out a ban on online gaming. If the regulations are passed, under-18s would be banned from playing online games between midnight and 8 am.

As soon as the government's draft law was introduced, it drew great attention from the public. Some thought highly of the law as a way to better protect teenagers, saying that too much overnight gaming is harmful to teenagers' health and believing the period between midnight and 8 am to be important to human physical functions. However, others wondered whether it would be practicable if it came into effect, as teenagers could just borrow their parent' IDs to register (登录)accounts to play online games. The Guangming Daily suggested that parents should help their teenagers find a balance between the cyber(网络的)world and the real world.

China is by no means the only one trying to fight against teenage gaming addiction. Germany introduced a regulation in 2002 trying to stop teenagers from playing online games from 10 pm to 6 am. Meanwhile, the UK, the US and Australia have forced a rating system(分级制) on computer games to make sure that teenagers cannot access  “adult” content such as violence, sex or bad language.
