Researchers from the University of Michigan have found that astronauts' brains change shape during spaceflight. It is the first study {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (look) into how the brain changes in space. Researchers looked at high-tech MRI(磁共振成像)pictures of the brains of 26 astronauts who spent time in space. Twelve of the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (astronaut) spent two weeks on the Space Shuttle, and 14 spent six months on the International Space Station. All of them {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (experience) increases and decreases in the size of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (differ) parts of the brain. The longer an astronaut spent in space ,the {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (big) the size differences were.

    The research produced some {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (interest) findings. One was that on gravity means fluids do not drop in the body, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} there is a shift in the brain's position inside the skull. The brain becomes either smaller or bigger. The findings could help doctors to treat problems that affect the brain's function. They could treat people with problems {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (cause)by long-term bed rest. They could also help those who have a build-up of fluid in the brain, which can lead {#blank#}9{#/blank#} brain damage.     Two new satellites of the BeiDou Navigation (导航) Satellite System (BDS){#blank#}1{#/blank#}(send) into space from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan Province on November 19, 2018.

    The satellites entered the orbit{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(safe) more than three hours later and will work with 17 other BDS-3 satellites already in space. They are also the 42^nd and 43^rd{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(member) of the BDS satellite family. China launched these satellites with{#blank#}4{#/blank#}aim of providing navigation services for countries and regions{#blank#}5{#/blank#}participate in the Belt and Road Initiative(倡议) by the end of 2018. This is a key step for BDS developing{#blank#}6{#/blank#}a Chinese experimental system to a regional and then a{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(globe) navigation system. The positioning{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(accurate) of the BDS-3 system has been improved to 5 meters.{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(name) after the Chinese term for the Plough(北斗七星), the BeiDou system has been serving China for 18 years. The system is expected {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(provide) first-class services around the globe by the end of 2020.

    Scientists found that air pollution may be responsible {#blank#}1{#/blank#} a significant reduction in intelligence. The research conducted by the World Health Organization (WHO) in China {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (show) that air pollution led to big falls in test {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (score) for languages and arithmetic. The study is called "The impact of exposure to air pollution on cognitive (认知的)performance ". It was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences journal. The study took place over four years. Researchers analyzed speaking and arithmetic tests taken by 20 000 people of all ages. They said, "Polluted air may prevent cognitive ability {#blank#}4{#/blank#} people become older.”

    The study is a warning to the rest of the world, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (especial) to those in cities. Over 91 percent of the world population live in areas with {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (poison) air and air pollution is the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (four) highest cause of global deaths. Researchers discovered that {#blank#}8{#/blank#} longer people were exposed to polluted air, the greater their intelligence went down. They said air pollution caused a year's worth of lost education. For those {#blank#}9{#/blank#} were over 60 years old, this could be several years. A researcher warned, "There is no shortcut {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (solve) this issue. Governments really need to take effective measures to reduce air pollution."
