I often stay at home{#blank#}1{#/blank#} every weekend．But it's going to {#blank#}2{#/blank#} different next weekend．On Saturday morning I'm going {#blank#}3{#/blank#}with my parents．In the afternoon we are going to {#blank#}4{#/blank#} litter in the park near our house．On Sunday morning I'm going to see a movie with my friends and I'm going to fly a kite with my father on Sunday afternoon．I'm going to {#blank#}5{#/blank#}a lot of fun next weekend．

    A road is a bridge between two places. The Silk Road has been a bridge East and West for more than 2,000 years. The Silk Road has been {#blank#}1{#/blank#} included into the UNESCO World Heritage List（世界文化遗产名录）at the 38^th session of the World Heritage Committee in Doha.

    But did you know: the Silk Road is not a single route（路线）! It is a series of {#blank#}2{#/blank#} and cultural transmission（传递）routes. It began during the Western Han Dynasty. The trade route starts from the city of Xi'an in Shannxi Province and  {#blank#}3{#/blank#} in Eastern Europe, near today's Turkey and the Mediterranean Sea. The Silk Road was about 6,500 kilometers long. It went  {#blank#}4{#/blank#} one-fourth of the planet.

    The Silk Road got its name  {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Chinese silk used to be carried along this road. Apart from silk, jade, ceramics and iron went west to Rome. From the west came glass, gems and food {#blank#}6{#/blank#} carrots and sesame（芝麻）.

    The Silk Road was very  {#blank#}7{#/blank#} to both China and the rest of the world. Besides trade, knowledge about science, arts and literature, as well as crafts and technologies was  {#blank#}8{#/blank#} across the Silk Road. In this way, languages and cultures developed and {#blank#}9{#/blank#} each other.

    Today, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} along the Silk Road are great travel destinations（目的地）,such as the Terracotta Warriors in Xi'an and Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang Gansu.

    Why do I want to go to college? No one has ever asked me such a question. But many times I have asked {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. I have come up with a whole variety of reasons. The most important reason is that I want to be a better man.

    Many things make {#blank#}2{#/blank#} different from or better than animals.

    One of the most important things is education. If I fail to receive higher education, my education will not finish. As I want to be a fully developed man, I must get a well-rounded education. Good colleges and universities are {#blank#}3{#/blank#} to provide it. I know one can get educated in many ways, but colleges and universities are among the best places to teach me how to educate myself. When I am well-educated, I will be able to {#blank#}4{#/blank#} fit into society.

    You're not alone.

    Sometimes when you're a teenager, you feel as if you're all alone and there's {#blank#}1{#/blank#} you can talk to. Do you know twenty to thirty percent of teenagers in the US have a hard {#blank#}2{#/blank#} going through the period? They feel lonely and sad. I think life is so much easier if you {#blank#}3{#/blank#} your troubles with others. I regret that I didn't take the advice when someone {#blank#}4{#/blank#} it to me.

    Your teachers only want what's best for you.

    When I was in school, I never thought I'd become a teacher. I acted badly in class, and feel {#blank#}5{#/blank#}about that now. I love my job and I know how challenging it is, so I hope kids can show their teachers more respect (尊重). I hope kids can {#blank#}6{#/blank#} that teachers push them to do their best and not just to give them a hard time.

    Money doesn't grow on trees.

    When I was a teenager, I never learned {#blank#}7{#/blank#}to save money. I just spent it! My parents gave me everything I wanted, but I realize now they spent little {#blank#}8{#/blank#} themselves. Now I wish I knew {#blank#}9{#/blank#}about planning my money, and I am not the only one! It seems that today's teenagers know about money planning even less {#blank#}10{#/blank#}me years ago. I do wish they could learn about it earlier.

    Why do you think people who live in some hot countries eat very spicy(辛辣的)food？Is it because the spices(调味品)make the food taste better？Is it just because their parents and grandparents and great-grandparents liked hot food, or is there some{#blank#}1{#/blank#}between spices and healthy food？

    Researchers from Cornell University think that it is because spice plants have some important chemicals. These chemicals can kill bacteria which spoil food.

    "Most common spices can kill 75 to 100{#blank#}2{#/blank#}of the bacteria in food, "explains one of the scientists. The bacteria grow more{#blank#}3{#/blank#}and spoil food more quickly at higher temperatures. For this reason, it is more difficult to keep food from spoiling in hot climates.

    Do you like your food spicy？You answer probably tells something about the country you come from. If you like spicy food, it is possible that hundreds of years ago, when there were no fridge, people in your country started using spices to keep the food from spoiling. The traditional spicy dishes helped those people to live{#blank#}4{#/blank#}, healthier lives. Today, in a time of fridges, the spices just make the food taste good.
