Around twenty years ago I was living in York. 1 I had a lot of experience and a Master's degree,I could not find 2 work.

    I was 3 a school bus to make ends meet and 4 with a friend of mine, for I had lost my flat. I had 5 five interviews(面试) with a company and one day between bus runs they called to say I did not 6 the job. “Why has my life become so  7？”I thought painfully.

    As I pulled the bus over to  8  a little girl, she handed me an earring  9 I should keep it  10  somebody claimed (认领) it. The earring was painted black and said “BE HAPPY”.

    At first I got angry. Then it  11 me—I had been giving all of my 12  to what was going wrong with my 13  rather than what was right！I decided then and there to make a 14 of fifty things I was happy with. Later, I decided to15 more things to the list.That night there was a phone call for  16  from a lady who was a director at a large  17.She asked me if I would  18  a one­day lecture on stress(压力) management to 200 medical workers. I said yes.

    My 19  there went very well, and before long I got a well­paid job.To this day I know it was because I changed my way of  20  that I completely changed my life.

    I was confused while I was eating lunch in a restaurant the other day. I was sitting there looking at what I'd1and wondered if anyone else could see the2in my mind. I'm about to 3a lot of fat and wash it down with a diet soda.

    What can I say? I'm trying to lose some weight.4I do things like that all the time, which is probably why the pounds are 5so slowly. I spent half an hour on the treadmill (跑步机) and I6myself with potato chips. I7that I will no longer eat them again, so I just eat a lot at this time. I make it all the way through the entire day doing everything absolutely right, and then at bedtime, “just one chip won't8it “turns into “where did that entire bag of potato chips go?”

    Of course, I9do well with my weight loss program, Once I put together two full weeks of eating properly and exercising10I was starting to feel a (an)11I could bend over to tie my shoes more easily. But just as it was about to become a12I entered a period of long, late nights filled with13deadlines. I sat in front of my computer, eating snacks and drinking sodas to help me stay14Within a few days, the habit of a sensible eating and exercising was a15.

Unfortunate but16I was too tired to get on the treadmill.17I had work to do, for which I needed all the energy I could 18 So I started skipping exercise sessions. And 19I started doing so, it became easier to skip them.

    There are always reasons not to do the things that we really should do. Every reason is just another 20.

    One young person, who was well educated, went for a job as a manager in a big company. The president did the final 1.

    He discovered the youth was 2 and felt satisfied. Then the president asked who paid for his school fees. The youth answered, "My mother did it. She worked as a clothes 3."

    The president requested the youth to 4 his hands. So the youth did. They were smooth. Then he asked, "Have you ever 5 your mother wash the clothes before?" The youth answered, "Never, my mother always wanted me to 6."

    "Go and clean your mother's 7 when you go back today, and then 8 me tomorrow morning," the president said 9.

    The youth felt his chance of getting the job was high, so when he went back, he 10 requested his mother to let him clean her hands. However, his tears fell 11 he cleaned his mother's hands slowly. It was the first time he had 12 that his mother's hands were so wrinkled (布满皱纹的). After that, the youth didn't say a word and washed all the remaining clothes for his mother 13. That night, Mother and Son 14 for a very long time, longer than any talk before.

    The next 15, the youth went to the president's office. The president noticed the tears in the youth's eyes and asked: "Please tell me how you 16 about helping your mother." The youth said, "Number One, I know now what 17 is. Without my mother, I wouldn't be successful today. Number Two, by helping my mother, I realize how 18 it is to get something done. Number Three, I've come to realize the 19 of family relationship."

    The president said, "You are 20. This is what I'm looking for to be my manager."

    In my childhood, there were no smart phones or computers. Still, I never felt bored. The field, 1 and woodlands around my home were the perfect playground. I can remember once hiking to a nearby2 and walking slowly around it. At the back of it I was amazed to find an old dirt road that I had never seen before. It was full of muddy tyre tracks and deep woods bordered it on both sides, but 3 it still seemed like a fine adventure.

    I4 on and on for what seemed like hours. I was sure my guardian angel was 5 in my ears to turn around and6back home but I was7 and even a bit stupid, so I walked on. There was still neither a car nor a house 8. My legs were getting tired. I noticed that the sun was starting to go down and I grew 9. I didn't want to end up10on this road in the dark of night, and I was worried that it would be dark 11  I could make my way back to the lake again.

    I continued to walk on with the fear growing inside of me. My heart was 12 and my legs were aching. When I 13 one last corner and saw a house that I 14 , I jumped up and down and laughed out loud. I knew the way home! It was still over a mile away, but 15 felt like feathers. I 16 into the house with a big smile just in time for dinner. Then I ended my adventure with a good night's sleep.

    I remembered this recently when I saw a 17 that said, "All roads lead home". This is true. I also remembered a sage (圣人) compared life to a journey. Are we going to make this life a terrible 18 or are we going to make the life a joyful one? It 19 our own choice.

    All road no matter how they twist and turn, can 20 us home in our hearts. May you always walk your path with love! May you always help your fellow travelers along the way!

    Last winter was extremely cold and it was also a difficult time for me. A(n) 1 injury happened to me and it might keep me in bed for several months, just in time for the New Year. But how could I feel the 2 when the snow was so heavy and I had months of physical 3 ahead?

    Danielle was living in a new city with no local bank of her own. She desperately needed to find a bank to cash her paycheck. For more than two weeks, she made 1 one after another but in vain. How could she continue to 2 herself and her two children as a single mother?

    Taking a break from her3, Danielle decided to attend a meeting at the local women's resource center. I only have forty dollars." She heard the voice again. Danielle knew she needed to follow. When the meeting concluded, she reached into her purse and 8 handed twenty dollars to Amy. Knowing Danielle's situation, Amy was9 to accept it at first. But as a crowd of women 10 to give Amy hugs of support, Danielle told her that God wanted her to have it. Then Danielle left.

    Now with just twenty dollars left in her wallet, Danielle decided to try cashing her paycheck at just one more bank before heading home. 11 she expected the rejection she had received at so many other banks, she was 12 filled with renewed confidence and optimism. Hopefully, she walked into the bank next to the women's center. Moments later, the bank 13 her paycheck with no questions asked. Wearing a big smile, Danielle returned home.

    As for Danielle, it has been three years since that day. Realizing true hope has no 14, she continues to be 15 for the lifetime supply that she received for just twenty dollars.
