In the summer vacation, I took a trip to Beijing with my brother. My brother was 18 years old and was in Grade 3 of high school. He knew a lot about the history of Beijing. He told me a lot about it and helped me know more about Beijing and our country on this trip. 

We went to the Palace Museum on the first day. We learnt more about our history. We bought some gifts there—a book for my sister Lily, a T-shirt for my father and a bag for my mother. And we bought some cards.

My brother was interested in universities(大学) in Beijing and wanted to study in one of them. So we visited the universities in Beijing in the next two days. We had a good time walking by the lake in Peking University. 

On the fourth day, we went to the Great Wall. It was beautiful and there were a lot of people. On the fifth day, we went shopping, tasted much delicious food and went boating in the Summer Palace. The sixth day was a rainy day, and we didn't go out. 

We spent six days in Beijing from 19th July to 24th July. We were very happy and got a lot from the trip.

Born in a family of farmers, Zhu's love for 2 started from a very young age under the influence of his Chinese teacher. He dreamed of writing his own books one day, just like his teacher.3 he finished middle school, Zhu went to big cities to look for jobs. He worked for house building in more than ten 4 Wherever he was, he went to local bookstores with a notebook. He would take notes from the books and 5 the words in a dictionary to check the meanings.

At the beginning, he read poems from the Tang Dynasty and poems written by Chairman Mao Zedong. As time went by, he found some6 methods to remember them. He especially likes Chairman Mao's words:7 in the world is difficult for one who sets his mind to it. Over the years, he has read 8 poems and can memorize more than 1,000 of them.

There is an old Chinese saying."Reading 10, 000 books is not as good as traveling 10, 000 miles."Zhu said, "9 I have been to many different cities, it is not for travel.I get to know the history and traditions of many places by reading books and poems. It opens up a new 10 for me." Reading also helps him live 11 and he never complains about hard work. There are 12 everywhere in his home, so he can read whenever he wants.

Zhu was very 13 in his children's study. The children were required to finish their homework and do some reading before they play. "Getting a good education is very important for my kids, because knowledge can bring14 a better life," said Zhu.

Zhu is already 50 years old, but he keeps on learning all the time. His story tells us that learning is a lifelong journey. Whether we are old or 15 , we should always learn to improve ourselves. Our life time is limited. Let's put it to good use.

What are some of the difficulties of being blind? Two hundred years ago, a little boy was born in France. He was Louis Braille, a happy and lovely baby.

Sadly, when he was three, something bad happened. While playing in his father's shop, Louis hurt his eyes on a sharp thing. Although he got the best care at that time, he was still completely blind and could not see all the lovely colours and beautiful things around him.

Louis was a kind boy. As he grew older, he wanted to help other blind people read. However, it was really hard for him. The first way he tried was to poke (戳) holes in paper and read by touching raised (凸起的) letters with his fingers. But it was too slow to read the letters and few blind people could do it well. After that, he tried many other ways.

One day, Louis heard about someone using dots to represent (代表) sounds. He immediately found its advantages and he spent three years improving upon this idea. Finally, he made a special alphabet and blind people could feel it with their fingers. Each letter was made with a number of dots and people could feel them by their fingers.

The alphabet that Louis made is called 'Braille'. Today many blind people use 'Braille' to help them to read. This is how the Braille Alphabet looks:

Alice has a restaurant next to her home. Its name is Alice's Restaurant. It opens（营业）from 10:00 in the morning to 8:00 in the evening. The restaurant is not big, but it's clean（干净的）

David and Mike are cooks in the restaurant. They cook well. David can make（做）delicious Chinese food like jiaozi and fish. Mike makes great hamburgers and sandwiches. A lot of people come to have lunch in the restaurant. So David and Mike are usually busy from 11:00 a. m. to 2:00 p. m.
