Jack Brown, an office worker, lives in Washington. He inherited(继承) a million dollars when he was 23. But he wasn't happy at all. When his college friends were looking for their jobs, he didn't have to. Jack decided to live a simple life like everyone else. He gave $10,000 of his money to a charity to help poor children live a better life. Today he is 36. He still wears cheap shoes and clothes and drives a small car only, but he is very happy.

    Up to now Jack has helped some children from poor countries all over the world by sending them $ 200 a month. The money was used for the children's study, food, medicine and clothing. Jack received a report each year on the children's progress. They can write to each other, but usually the children do not speak English.     

    When Jack first heard about these children, he wanted to help them. "It was nothing special," he said."Until I went to these countries and met the children I was helping, I didn't know anything about their life. "Once lack went to meet a little girl in Africa. He said that the meeting was very exciting. "When I met her, I felt very, very happy," he said. "And I saw that the money was used for a good cause. It brought me happiness. I want to do everything I can to go on helping these children. "

After a few minutes he comes out again and buys a third ticket. Two or three minutes after that, he comes out a third time and asks for another ticket. But the girl says to him, "Why are you buying all these? Are you meeting friends in the cinema all the time?"

    "No, I'm not doing that." the small man says, "But a big woman always stops me at the door and tears(撕掉) my tickets up."

    Long ago in a small village, there was a place called the House of 1,000 Mirrors(镜子).A small, happy little dog learned about this place and decided to visit. When he arrived, he jumped happily up the stairs and to the doorway of the house. He looked through the doorway. His ears lifted up, and his tail wagged as fast as it could. To his great surprise, he found himself looking at 1,000 other happy little dogs with their tails wagging just as fast as his. He smiled a great smile and he found 1,000 great smiles that were just as warm and friendly. As he left the house, he thought to himself," This is a wonderful place. I will come back to visit often."

    In this same village, another little dog, who was not quite as happy as the other one, decided to visit the house. He slowly climbed the stairs and hung (垂下) his head low as he looked into the doorway. When he saw the 1,000 unfriendly-looking dogs looking back at him, he growled (吼叫) at them. He was afraid when he saw 1,000 little dogs barking back. As he left, he thought to himself," That is a terrible place. I will never go back there again."

During the Spring Festival, three films are very popular. The comedy film YOLO(《热辣滚烫》) continues to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} China's daily box office. YOLO is directed by Jia Ling. It's her second work after Hi, Mom. 

It tells the story of a jobless woman in her {#blank#}2{#/blank#} who still lives with her parents. After she meets a boxing (拳击) coach, her life is {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. The film has caused an online {#blank#}4{#/blank#} due to Jia's weight loss (减肥), but she once explained that she didn't want people to think that YOLO was just a movie about weight loss. This movie has {#blank#}5{#/blank#} to do with weight loss, or even boxing. It is a movie about {#blank#}6{#/blank#} a kind person learns to love herself. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} make movies, Jia Ling once gained weight and then lost weight to show a {#blank#}8{#/blank#} different image (形象) from the past. Losing weight is a test for many people, which requires a lot of effort and time. Her success is not only due to her talent, but also because of her courage. Her achievement is quite {#blank#}9{#/blank#}. We should learn from Jia Ling's spirit and dare to challenge {#blank#}10{#/blank#}.

Jerry Sun is 28 years old. He {#blank#}1{#/blank#} （spend） the Chinese New Year with his family every year. "It is part {#blank#}2{#/blank#} our family tradition, wherever we live or spend it," said Sun.

Sun was {#blank#}3{#/blank#} b in Shandong. All his family {#blank#}4{#/blank#} （move） to New Jersey14 years ago. He went to junior high school {#blank#}5{#/blank#}college in New York. Now he works {#blank#}6{#/blank#} a bank clerk in Manhattan. Though he is busy, he lets nothing stop {#blank#}7{#/blank#} （he） from spending the Chinese New Year with his family. Sun always takes {#blank#}8{#/blank#} few days off every year to be with his family at festival time.

"I think it is because my parents take every Chinese New Year {#blank#}9{#/blank#} （serious）, even though we live in the US," said Sun. "We cook together. We make {#blank#}10{#/blank#} （dumpling） every year." Sun also added that they took an {#blank#}11{#/blank#} （act） part in watching the CCTV New Year's Gala （春晚）. They could feel the love, kindness and {#blank#}12{#/blank#} （happy） of Chinese people.

Being a Chinese- American, Sun said he got the {#blank#}13{#/blank#} （good） of both China and the US. He likes the {#blank#}14{#/blank#} （color） cultures and celebrates festivals from both.

Sun said, "Spending the festival in the most {#blank#}15{#/blank#} （tradition） way is what we can do to keep the culture."

I'm a middle school student. My school is very beautiful. There are lots of tall trees and beautiful {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(flower) in it. Walking in my school is very relaxing. It's also a good place to study. 

This is our school library {#blank#}2{#/blank#} all kinds of books. Look! The librarian(图书管理员)Tina is helping a new student {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(look) for a book. She is {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(real) kind and friendly. We all love her {#blank#}5{#/blank#}we enjoy reading here. Now we can spend {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(many) time reading books in the library than before because of the double reduction policy (双减政策). 

There is {#blank#}7{#/blank#} big and beautiful playground in front of the classroom. We usually have {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(we) PE class there. Last week, we had a Sports Day on the playground. All the teachers and students were really {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(excite). We had a great time and {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(take) quite a lot of photos.
