I'm Mary from England. Now I'm in a middle school in Beijing. I'm in Class 5, Grade 7. Look! This is a photo of our classroom. There are twenty-one desks and forty chairs in it. Two students share a desk. And there is also a desk for our teachers in the front of the classroom.

Our classroom is big and tidy. There are two maps in the classroom. They are a map of China and a map of Beijing. There are no computers in the classroom. But there is a bookcase (书架).There are many books in it. We can read them, but we can only take one book at a time. There are only a few books on our desks. Most of our books are in our desks. We like our classroom very much. What about yours?

Many people are trying to learn a new language. ①Some of them consider it as a hobby, while others learn it    because it is required by their jobs or study. As a foreigner who is really interested in Chinese culture, I like learning Chinese.

It is reported that a person needs to know at least 3,000 Chinese characters (汉字)to understand most Chinese newspapers.

②However, some foreigners think it is so hard that they give up halfway. It's the most difficult part for me, too. But I manage to write each character by watching videos online. Whenever I see a character I don't know, ③我会把它写下来并且查阅它。Slowly I can learn more and more characters that are common in daily life.

As for listening, I usually download (下载)a lot of listening materials and listen to them on the way to school, work and even dates with my friends. ④I also practice listening by watching Chinese TV shows and films, in this way, l am able to learn how to express myself like a Chinese.

⑤尽可能多地说中文也很重要。I practice talking about different topics in Chinese when I am cycling around, effectively talking to myself or in my head, thinking through different conversations and scenarios(扬).For example, if I go to a shop, l will think how to say that in Chinese. It helps me to think in a Chinese way, which is really important.

Learning a language is never easy. Basically, l just use every tool on hand and take my learning step by step, and I'm still learning new things to this day!

John is very crazy about stones. He has a very big {#blank#}1{#/blank#} of all kinds of stones. His father loves collecting stones, too. Sometimes he will give John some {#blank#}2{#/blank#} about how to put different stones into different boxes. There's a "Beautiful Stone Competition" in town. They {#blank#}3{#/blank#}to join in the competition as a team. John wants to win because he thinks his stones are the most beautiful ones. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}o not many people have as many stones as they have. It is not {#blank#}5{#/blank#} for them to get nervous. Wish this father-son team win the competition! 

It's Saturday today. Tomorrow Nina{#blank#}1{#/blank#} a party because it's her 13th birthday. Her friends will come to help her. Linda is a {#blank#}2{#/blank#} girl. She is good at {#blank#}3{#/blank#} games and activities. Gina is ready to buy some food and {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Anna is going to bring some {#blank#}5{#/blank#} and other decorations. It's nice, isn't it?

My life at school is always wonderful. In the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} grade, my school life becomes more exciting. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} all the subjects I study, science is my favourite. We learned about a great invention that changed the way people travelled. In history class, we talked about how cities grew and how {#blank#}3{#/blank#} people moved to them for work. After classes, the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} school takes part in different activities. Some students play sports, while others enjoy {#blank#}5{#/blank#} meetıngs in clubs. The school offers us lots of new chances to have great fun.

Zhang Xiping is from Xi'an. In August 2022, the 58-year-old man {#blank#}1{#/blank#}one of the 2022 Chinese Final Piety figures (中华慈孝人物).

Zhang had an {#blank#}2{#/blank#}problem at birth and he couldn't see things. When he was young, his father died. It was difficult for his mother to raise (养育) him by {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. To help his mother live comfortably, Zhang started to {#blank#}4{#/blank#}eggs. Every night, Zhang {#blank#}5{#/blank#} about 3 hours preparing eggs for sale. Every morning, he{#blank#}6{#/blank#} up at 5 a. m. and takes a bus for two hours to sell his eggs. "It was very difficult in {#blank#}7{#/blank#} past. Luckily, {#blank#}8{#/blank#}many kind people's help, I solved these problems later," Zhang said.

Through hard work, Zhang now lives a much {#blank#}9{#/blank#} life with his mother. He always faces life with a smile{#blank#}10{#/blank#} he still has difficulties now and then. "Many people want to buy eggs from me only to support (支持) me. Because of my eyes, there are many things I can't do in my life. But I always try to live it to the full," he said.
