Have you ever heard of water bears? They have lived on the earth for more than 500 million years, long before dinosaurs. Though called "bears", they look completely different from bears! The largest ones are only about 1.4 mm long. Each of their eight legs ends with a claw (爪) . They also have sharp mouths.

Some of the places they live may surprise you! They live deep down in the ocean. It's too dark to see well, and the water from up above is very heavy. But tiny water bears can survive in such a difficult environment. In space, there is no air, water or food. But water bears can live there! Astronauts took some water bears outside the spaceship. Surprisingly, most of them lived. Some even laid eggs. The eggs even hatched into healthy babies!

There is no rain in dry valleys of Antarctica for about two million years. But water bears can survive in such a place! How? First, they curl into a ball. Then they do nothing. They can stay in this way for many years! When they get wet again, they uncurl and start to move around. Sometimes wind or water moves away when they curl up in a ball.

Besides the places mentioned above, water bears also live around us, but we need some effort to find them. If we are careful and lucky enough, maybe we can find one.

My best friend Jenny and I got to the mall for shopping. She held up a white sweater and nice skirt. "Do you like them?" she asked. 

"They're great, " I said. Jenny smiled and keep looking while I moved about, touching the beautiful clothes. "I'll try them on, " Jenny walked towards the dressing room. After a while, she came out in the outfit (一套衣服). She looked beautiful. 

Part of me wanted to say how good she looked, but another part stopped the words coming out. Jenny was in such good shape( 外 形 )that she'd look good in the outfit. Sometimes, I regretted(后悔)choosing a best friend who was so pretty. God, why can't I be the one with the rich parents and the great look? More and more, I was envious (妒忌的) of her. 

"Well, Tina, what do you think?" Jenny asked more than once. "Do you like it?"

The outfit looked great on her, but I lied, "Not really. I think you need something with more colors. "

"You think so?" Jenny said doubtfully. 

"Just believe me. We'll find something better, " I told her, pushing her back into the dressing room. "You just can't buy the first thing you see. " I did my best to get Jenny out of the store, away from that outfit. As we left, Jenny gave the outfit one last look. 

Just down the mall, we passed an ice-cream place. "My treat, " Jenny said, pulling out her wallet(钱包). 

I could never say no to ice-cream, so we got some and sat down at a table. As Jenny talked without stopping about a million things, I thought about my feelings toward her. Those feelings weren't kind. 

Sitting there, I began to see Jenny in a new light! Jenny was attractive (吸引人的) not just because of her good luck, but more because of her kindness. Treating me to ice-cream was far from her only show of generosity(大方). She also let me drive her car and borrow her clothes. 

Finishing our ice-cream, we headed for the next clothing store. "Look at that red sweater, " Jenny said when we passed the window. "It would be nice for you. Soon maybe you'll have enough by saving your pocket money to buy something like that. "

A few minutes earlier, all I had heard was about saving my pocket money. I had hated the fact that Jenny could ask her parents for anything, and they'd buy it for her. This time, however, I heard more. I heard the voice of someone who loved for who I was. So I needed to express( 表达)the same to her. 

Tom and Mike were good friends, and they began to work in a company together the same year. They both worked hard. After several years, however, the boss made Mike manager (经理) but Tom was still an office worker. Tom couldn't stand it, so he handed a letter to his boss, saying that he decided to resign (辞职) his job because the boss didn't value his hard work at all.

The boss knew that Tom worked very hard for years. He thought for a moment and said, "I hope you will do one more thing for our company before you leave. Perhaps you will change your mind." Tom agreed. The boss asked him to go and find out if there was anyone who sold water-melons in the market. Tom returned soon. He said he had found a man selling watermelons. The boss asked the price of the watermelons. Tom shook his head and went back to the market again. When he returned, he told the boss it was $2 for each kilo.

The boss told Tom to wait for a moment in his office, and he called Mike in. He asked Mike to find if there was anyone selling watermelons in the market. Later Mike returned and said, "Only one man is selling watermelons, $2 for each kilo. He has 100 watermelons in all. Every watermelon weighs about 2 kilos. They were brought here two days ago, pretty fresh and sweet." Tom got to know the difference between Mike and himself. He decided not to resign his job any more.

Hello, I am Jason from Shenyang. Everyone's weekend is different. Now let me tell you{#blank#}1{#/blank#} my weekend. 

I'm always busy on Saturday. I spend two hours learning to play {#blank#}2{#/blank#} piano in the morning,In the afternoon, I often spend one and a half{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(hour) playing badminton. At 4:20 p. m. , I have a math lesson. Math is difficult and boring, but it is {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(help). 

On Sunday morning, I{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(usual) do my homework. If there is time after finishing my homework, I often play computer games. At 2:00 p. m. , I have an English lesson. English is much more {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(interest) than math and it is important to me {#blank#}7{#/blank#}I want to study abroad (在国外) in the future. 

I don't like this kind of weekend because there are many {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(class). I like these lessons, but I don't have much time {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(enjoy) my hobbies, such as writing and listening to music.
