Imagine walking around a fashion store. You see a beautiful leather bag and want {#blank#}1{#/blank#} it. But in fact, it's made from recycled fruit and food waste. Would you still buy it?

Song Youyang, a 30-year-old material designer, works on developing products. She studied material design at a university in Germany and now lives in China. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} she was designing some new products, she couldn't find any suitable biomaterials (生物材料) to work with. So, she and her team decided to develop {#blank#}3{#/blank#} own new material from fruit waste.

The resulting material {#blank#}4{#/blank#} a lot like leather. It keeps the fruits' texture (质地), sense of touch and nice smell. Song and her team have used this new material to make fashion {#blank#}5{#/blank#} , such as bags, lamps and so on.

The designer thought these products would be {#blank#}6{#/blank#}. But in fact, not many customers have bought them. "Many people have their old ideas about biomaterials," said Song. "They think these materials are too expensive or of {#blank#}7{#/blank#} quality." As a result, it's quite difficult for these materials to become {#blank#}8{#/blank#} used. But Song still believes biomaterials will shape the {#blank#}9{#/blank#}. She and her team will {#blank#}10{#/blank#} working on new types of "green" materials and products.

Besides Song's team, many other fashion companies are {#blank#}11{#/blank#} working towards the same goal. They are showing us that fashion can be environmentally friendly.

There are several different kinds of sea turtles in the world. The sea turtles are endangered. Several are in danger of being gone {#blank#}1{#/blank#} ( complete).

Sea turtles lay large groups of eggs under the sand on beaches. The eggs face many challenges, both natural and man- made. In Costa Rica, one big challenge is poachers(偷猎者)— they take the eggs in order to sell {#blank#}2{#/blank#} ( they).

Kim Williams Guillen is {#blank#}3{#/blank#} scientist. She works for the University of Michigan and Paso Pacifico. She works {#blank#}4{#/blank#} ( protect) animals in Costa Rica. AfterKim{#blank#}5{#/blank#}( watch) some TV shows, she suddenly had an idea. What if poachers could be followed by using a fake(假的) t urtle egg {#blank#}6{#/blank#}a GPS tracker(跟踪器) inside?

Dr. Williams Guillen showed that idea and it won a $10,000 prize. She then worked with other scientists to create the fake egg. It was made of a special material, just like a ping- pong ball.{#blank#}7{#/blank#} it was cheap and easy to make fake eggs, they made a lot of them.

The scientists put some fake eggs into 101 {#blank#}8{#/blank#} ( difference) t urtle nests in Costa Rica. According to the results, most eggs {#blank#}9{#/blank#} ( sell) to local people. That wasn't a big surprise, since in Costa Rica, turtle eggs are considered a special kind of food.

The scientists are excited about the results of the fake eggs. The test shows that such simple ways can work well. The scientists believe that similar ideas could be helpful in other{#blank#}10{#/blank#}( place) as well.
