It is not always easy to discover yourself. From a young age, I had a strong sense of who I would become—but an 1 changed everything.

To me, skating was more important than anything else in the world. Nothing else filled my heart with so much joy. I spent twenty-four hours a week developing my skills. I had no 2 life or interests other than skating. But I was rewarded with first place medals in nearly every competition.

Unluckily, during one competition, I fell and was badly injured. The doctor told me that I couldn't skate anymore. The pain in my back was hard to bear and even basic daily tasks became 3 .

My passion (激情) had been taken away. I lost 4 and had no idea what I would become. After eight months of suffering, something had to change. Instead of sitting around and 5 my days, I began to work with local community service projects. By volunteering as a swimming teacher and summer reading assistant for kids, I got an idea of who I wanted to become. After a few months, I found a new interest. Little by little, I stepped out of the shadow and rebuilt my confidence.

Sometimes, challenges in life will get in our way. We can 6 to stay behind or try to get past these challenges. My accident was a challenge that failed to stop me from reaching success. Today, I'm a very confident and optimistic person.

In today's world, almost everyone knows air pollution is harmful to people's health, However, not all people know noise is also a kind of pollution and is harmful to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (human) health. 

People who work and live in {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (noise) conditions often go deaf. For example, many of the workers who print newspapers and books lose their hearing. Quite {#blank#}3{#/blank#} few people living near airports also have hearing loss. Recently, it was reported that many teenagers in America can hear no better than 65-year-old people do, because these young people always listen to loud pop music. 

Making a loud noise in public is also a kind of pollution. It not only disturbs (打扰) others but also does great harm {#blank#}4{#/blank#} people's hearing. Cars and machines produce far more noise in our life. Such pollution makes people feel uncomfortable and unpleasant, and it can even cause them {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (become) sick or deaf. Nowadays, many countries are trying to solve all kinds of environmental problems, including noise pollution.

A man came home from work and found his three children outside. They were still in their pajamas (睡衣) , playing in the mud (泥) . Toys were lying all over the garden. The front door{#blank#}1{#/blank#} the house was wide open. 

Walking in the door, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp was upside down on the table. In the living room, the TV was turned up loud. There were toys and clothes all over the place. In the kitchen, there was a{#blank#}2{#/blank#} glass under the table and dishes filled the sink (水槽) . Breakfast food was still on the dining table. The fridge door was open. In the bathroom, the bathtub (浴缸) was full of water. Soap and toilet paper were on the floor. Toothpaste was all over the mirror and walls. 

He quickly went upstairs, looking for his wife. He was worried that she was sick{#blank#}3{#/blank#}that something bad happened. 

As he ran into the bedroom, he found his wife in bed. Still in her pajamas, she was reading anovel. She looked up at him,{#blank#}4{#/blank#} and asked how his day went. He looked at her and asked, "What happened here today?"

She smiled{#blank#}5{#/blank#}and answered, "You know every day when you come home from work, you ask me what in the world I do all day?"

"Yes,"he replied. 

She answered, "Well, today I didn't do anything."
