New Yorkers always love to say that they have the best pizza in the country. And these days, they have a good reason. In early September, 50 Top Pizza showed the names of the best pizza shops in the world. Una Pizza Napoletana from New York City came out on top for the third time.
Una Pizza Napoletana won the title for its "purity (纯净)". Though Americans are used to putting everything on their pizza, Anthony Mangieri, the owner of Una Pizza Napoletana, still keeps using traditional toppings.
Anthony Mangieri opened Una Pizza Napoletana in March 2022. But his love of pizza began at a young age. Back then, his mom often drove him around to look for the "best pizza".
After years of working with pizza, Mangieri knows the key to making it. "The first thing is the dough (生面团)," he said. It is not as simple as it seems. He has to think about different things and make changes from time to time. However, he never takes the easy way out. He makes fresh dough every day.
Mangieri chose to run just one restaurant. This makes him keep an eye on everything to make sure his food is delicious. What's more, he makes only three pizzas at a time. This makes his pizza more enjoyable for slow eaters.
Mangieri said he was very happy with the result, but a big name was never his goal (目标). He just wants to make the best pizza. Every day, he carefully prepares the dough, putting love and care into each step. Making more people enjoy his delicious pizza is just enough for him.
