More and more Chineseare having, English names. But not everyone is good at finding one. Why notoffer them some help? An American girl called Lindsay Jernigan is now teachingpeople how to get better English names.

While working inShanghai, Lindsay met many Chinese people with strange English names. Some of themchose a lucky number of "Seven", a favourite fruit, "Apple",and a cartoon character, "Snow White". Others had names like "July"and "Rabbit".

After noticing the problem,Lindsay had an idea. Shequit her job and set up a website (Bestenglishname. com) to help Chinesepeople get better English names.

The website helpspeople in two ways. After they take an online quiz, people will get fiveEnglish names based on their personal information, such as age, job and evenfuture plans. This costs 18yuan. Peoplecan also meet with Lindsay to talk about their English names. But that costsmore.

Now, about 2, 000 peopleeach day visit the website. Most of them are preparing to study or work abroad.Lindsay is planning to offer them more help, such as helping them writeresumes(简历).

Anna's coat is too small. She goes shopping with her mother this evening. They go into a clothing shop first(首先). She wants to buy a new coat. Anna finds a green coat in the clothing shop. She likes it very much. She tries it on, but it's too small for her. She wants a big one, but the big one is not green. She isn'thappy.

Then Anna wants to go to another(另外的) shop to have a look. Anna and her mather find a new shop. The shop is big. There they see many kinds of coats in different colors and sizes (尺码). Anna tries on a green one. It looks nice on her. It marks(标价) 68 yuan, but Ann takes it for 45 yuan in the end. Anna is very happy.

Since my mother moved to live with us in the city，she1 much heavier than before. As time went by，her health got 2 . So I had to take her to see a doctor. My mother was told to lose weight by doing exercise every day. She had no choice but 3 the doctor said. I told her that I would exercise with her every morning.

Everyone faces difficulties in their life. Daniel Kish was born with a special eye illness and lost his eyesight when he was only 14 months old. 

Soon after, however, he started to do an amazing thing. He learned to make clicks (咔哒声) with sonar (声呐) to help him move around. Kish now moves about using sonar. He is so good at it that he can ride a bicycle by himself on public roads. And he started the organization World Access for the Blind (WAFTB) in 2000, teaching others how to use sonar. In the interview with National Geographic, he explains how the sonar works. 

"When I make a click sound, it produces sound waves. These waves reflect (反射) off surfaces around and return to my ears. My brain then deals with the sound and turns it into pictures in my mind. Each click is like a camera flash, which helps me make a 3-D picture of my surroundings for hundreds of feet. It's like having a conversation with the environment. "

Kish feels it is exciting to ride a bike using sonar, although he needs to click twice a sound, much more than he usually does. "It may sound a bit dangerous to move around the world in this way, " he says. "But most people in the world live in fear of things that they imagine. I love hiking and mountain-biking. I go almost everywhere. And I've never had an accident and hurt myself. "

He is happy to be able to help more blind children to improve their life. "We've served over 10, 000 students in nearly 40 countries, " he tells the reporter. "Many students are surprised how quickly results come. Seeing isn't in the eyes. It's in the mind. "

I saved the rice and wheat carefully and finally had enough to plant. I built a wall around my garden to keep the wild goats away. 

Then when my crop(庄稼) bore its fruit, the birds discovered it. The birds were not afraid of my dog at all. I shot them, but as soon as I walked away, they returned. At last, I killed some birds and hung them among the crop, hoping they would serve as the scarecrows(稻草人), which turned out to be successful. By harvest time, I had nearly two bushels of rice and two and a half bushels of wheat. 

With my new rice and wheat to store, I found a new problem. The fine rice and wheat ran through my baskets. It took me nearly two months to form and dry two ugly bowls — one for rice and one for wheat. 

Next I made some tools from hard wood and cloth to make bread. I made bread with my tools. I spent the third year on the island in farming and making bread. 

Soon after that, I began to think of my days sailing in a tidy boat with Xury. I wished to have a boat and explore(探索) the island by sea. 

I tried to turn over the ship's boat that I had seen washed up, but failed. I was still determined(坚定的) to have a boat. So I chose a strong tree and spent weeks cutting it down. Then it took me months to turn the tree into a boat. 

When it was time to sail, I realised I had made my boat too far from the nearest river. The boat was far too heavy for me to move. I tried bringing the water to the boat instead of the boat to the water. I soon saw it would take me twenty years of work. 

I celebrated my fourth year on the island with two boats, but I was no closer to a sea journey.
