Throughout the year, 1 school organizes charity (慈善) events and activities. One of 2 events of the year is the food drive. So far, this 3 a very successful charity event and most of the students have taken part in it. Each school does its food drives 4 . However, most of the time the food drives are set up in a similar style. 

In my school it usually lasts for 5 weeks. Students will bring the food 6 home. The food 7 for a long period of time, such as canned goods and pastas. We 8 organize activities outside the school. Some students go door to door around their neighborhood asking if people are willing to donate (捐献) some food. Some set up donation boxes in churches and 9 areas such as stores or cinemas. The students all work really hard and the members of the community are very supportive. 

After that time is over, we will bring the collected food to our local Community Table. The families in our community can go for 10 warm meal if they need to. Usually, a group of students go with one of our teachers to send the food. I 11 food with our teacher last year, and I was 12 to see so many families who suffering from hunger in our community. 

I was glad that our school was able 13 all of those families. We do this several times each year. 14 meaningful event! Sure, we can't change the world, 15 we can do our best to make our world a better place.

Last Friday, my friend Deborah asked me if I would like to learn how to make tofu. I couldn't think of any good reason not to be interested in, so I said: "Yes". So the next day I met her and other three nice people and went to Hodo Soy Beanery in Oakland, I enjoyed the trip. And I learned a lot from the trip. The following is what I learned.

Tofu has a history of 2,000 years. Although the word "tofu" is from Japanese, the food may come from China. There are two main kinds of tofu: soft tofu (软豆腐) and firm tofu (硬豆腐). In some parts of Asia (亚洲), people use tofu as a kind of meat.

Douhua is one kind of soft tofu. It is a popular breakfast food in China. Because it is very soft, people can't eat it with chopsticks, but with a spoon. People often eat it as a dessert (甜点) and often add spring onions and sauce (酱油) to it. In Malaysia people usually eat douhua with white or dark sugar water.

Some students are talking about ways of learning English in the English club. Paul from Class 2 thinks the best way {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(learn) English words is to make word cards. Most students agree {#blank#}2{#/blank#} him. Li Lin from Class 5 says she improves her English a lot by  {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(write) to her American pen friends often. Zhao Guang from Class 8 is worried about his listening. Other students all advise him {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(listen) to tapes every day. Lucy couldn't pronounce {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(good) before. But she improves her {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(pronounce) by talking with her friends in the club. Once she thought, "How about {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(watch) English films?" She has a try and it turns out to be helpful (有用的). Lily from Class 1 is good at grammar. She thinks making {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (sentence) is a good way to learn grammar. Besides, it may be a good idea {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(ask) your American friends to check the way you write and give you some suggestions. Students here always say, "Let's {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(talk) about how to learn English well." So, why not come and join us?

Taihang Grand Canyon National Forest Park is a natural wonder. It lies in the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} part of Huguan County. There are some sweet springs, silver chains — like waterfalls, deep pools, clear streams, interesting karst caves and forests spreading all over the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} .

I always remember the journey to go there. In the early morning, we began to {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the canyon. At first the canyon was silent. With more and more people coming, the canyon became noisy. There were so many trees and we didn' t know most of them. Some signs along the paths told us something about different sights. We heard the loud waterfalls {#blank#}4{#/blank#} we were far away from them. When we got near, we {#blank#}5{#/blank#} cool at once. The waterfalls were high and pretty. We also visited some other sights and had great fun there.
