While being abroad, I have tried to collect small things, and I have been taking lots of photos. I have my {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(自己的) map and I have circled all of my favourite restaurants, cafes, parks and other places on it. I have even coloured it to show whether it's {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(可能的) for me to have free Wi-Fi or lunch at these places. I plan to make a scrapbook {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(用……) all these things.

"Scrapbook" is an empty book. People usually take it away with them on holiday, and fill it with "scraps" of {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(邮票),tickets, maps, photos, etc. You will always have the memories (记忆) of your favourite places and why you liked them so much. So it is really {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(有价值的) to have it. If you ever want to {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(返回) to that place, you can get some information from it. My scrapbook started in last {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(9 月).And now, eight months later, it is {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(几乎;差不多) full!

You can't {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(想象;设想) how happy you can be by just looking at an old ticket with a special {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(日期) on, or a napkin from your favourite restaurant. It's the little things that can make you smile.

I was expecting to have a quiet day, but it turned out(结果是) to be just the opposite. It was Saturday morning 1 I was reading on the sofa when the phone rang. "Come quickly, Sam, I need your 2 ！" It was my best friend George, so I couldn't 3 . "Where are you？" I asked. "I'm 4 home, watching the house opposite. Come quickly, through the back garden."

I moved here three years ago, and because of my business, I needed to fly both to China and the United States often. When I traveled alone, I felt lonely because I didn't speak English well. I made a decision that I had to learn English well.

I came to Rita Colina's class at the Chinese Community Center in Houston. Before the class, I always walked away when I met any foreigner. It's completely different now. I try to communicate with Americans in English by myself. Now I like to talk to foreigners. Not only the life becomes more flexible, but also I really love to live here.

I learn English in four ways:

First of all, I listen to what the teacher teaches in class. Then I keep speaking during the class.

Second, I do my homework right away when I get home. I memorize at least five vocabulary words every day.

Third, I listen to American radio stations, and I watch the TV news and other American programs with my family every day. I ask them whatever I don't know.

Finally, I go to American stores as often as possible so I will have more chances to learn more new words, and find any chance to talk to Americans in English.

Anyway, the most important thing is not to be afraid to open your mouth. It doesn't matter even though you speak incorrectly. It's the key, you know.

If you walk in the Peking University (北京大学)，you are likely to meet a boy carrying a big bottle of water and a bag of buns (馒头) in his hand. He is ordinary in his looks and wearing, but uncommon in maths achievement. He is Wei Dongyi, a teacher and a math talent in the Peking University.

He is known by the public for an interview. He was asked to cheer up the high school students who were about to take the Chinese gaokao, and he just said "Welcome to Peking University. I don't know what else to say. "It was later leaned that this shy boy once won gold medals at the International Mathematical Olympiad (国际奥林匹克数学竞赛). Because of this, he was invited to study at Harvard University, but he refused. His reason is also simple: "I don't want to go abroad".

Wei's father is a math professor. This influenced him in some ways. When he was young, he was interested in math while other children loved playing toys. He is a big fan of math.

He was always found reading math books by his classmates.

Although he was so successful, his life can't be simpler! He doesn't like social media (社交媒体) or going to parties. He always takes a bottle of water and refills it with drinking water simply because it is good for the environment.

This genius lives in his own world. He doesn't care about how much he got or outside opinions but he loves his country and math. He is willing to put his whole life into solving math problems.

 Marco and Kim left the school and walked towards home.

"I wish we could play basketball at our neighborhood park." said Kim.

"But the basketball hoop at the park is1 ," said Marco. "It hasn't been fixed yet."
