I moved here three years ago, and because of my business, I needed to fly both to China and the United States often. When I traveled alone, I felt lonely because I didn't speak English well. I made a decision that I had to learn English well.

I came to Rita Colina's class at the Chinese Community Center in Houston. Before the class, I always walked away when I met any foreigner. It's completely different now. I try to communicate with Americans in English by myself. Now I like to talk to foreigners. Not only the life becomes more flexible, but also I really love to live here.

I learn English in four ways:

First of all, I listen to what the teacher teaches in class. Then I keep speaking during the class.

Second, I do my homework right away when I get home. I memorize at least five vocabulary words every day.

Third, I listen to American radio stations, and I watch the TV news and other American programs with my family every day. I ask them whatever I don't know.

Finally, I go to American stores as often as possible so I will have more chances to learn more new words, and find any chance to talk to Americans in English.

Anyway, the most important thing is not to be afraid to open your mouth. It doesn't matter even though you speak incorrectly. It's the key, you know.

On a sunny afternoon, we decided to visit a place where nature' s beauty spread out like a colorful blanket. As we walked through the gates, we couldn't help but notice how the flowers and greenery attracted everyone's {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（注意). The grass was green and the flowers {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(闻) sweet.

The {#blank#}3{#/blank#}（花园）were filled with people. Different activities {#blank#}4{#/blank#}（牵涉） picnicking and playing games under the shade of the trees. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, smiling and laughing politely at each other 's jokes .

One of the highlights of the day was the {#blank#}5{#/blank#}（耐心的）guide. He told us stories about the history of the place and its {#blank#}6{#/blank#}（习俗), making the facts interesting. As we walked {#blank#}7{#/blank#}（沿着）the paths, we found a small board that explained its meaning and the artist who created it. We {#blank#}8{#/blank#}（躺) down on the grass nearby, taking in the fresh air and the beauty as well .

It was more than just a relaxing afternoon ; it was an experience that left us with {#blank#}9{#/blank#}（回忆) that would last a lifetime. And we couldn't help but feel a deeper connection to the {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(传统) of our town .We can also raise money for the homeless.

Monday! Oh, I don't like Monday because I'll have to go back to school again after the weekend. On weekdays, I have to get up at 6:30 in the morning and go to bed at 9o' clock in the evening

Tuesday is not so bad. I usually play tennis with my friends after school.

On Wednesday evening I don't go on. I stay with at home and do my homework.

I like Thursday because I have a P. E. class on Thursday.

I always go out on Friday night. I often go to my friends' house. Sometimes I go to the cinema.

I love the weekend. On Saturday I stay in bed until lunch time, and I sometimes go to the shops in the afternoon. In the evening I go for a walk with my parents in a park after dinner.

Then on Sunday I go to my friends' house or they come to mine. I usually visit my grandmother for an hour in the afternoon. Then the weekend is over and it's Monday. And I feel bad again!

Our Food Club held a food f{#blank#}1{#/blank#} last Saturday.  Many club members a{#blank#}2{#/blank#} the fair.  Everyone shared some traditional food they brought from home with each other. 

Miss Wang, our head teacher, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (teach) us how to make delicious s{#blank#}4{#/blank#}.  I tried to cook some biscuits by myself, but it was really difficult.  I couldn't make it w{#blank#}5{#/blank#} my classmates' help.  Miss Wang also showed us some modern cooking machines.  The modern ones are very different from {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (tradition) ones.  The biggest {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (different) is that they can help us cook much easier. 

After cooking, we had a charity food s{#blank#}8{#/blank#}.  We tried to d{#blank#}9{#/blank#} the place with beautiful flowers to attract (吸引) people.  We made a lot of money, and the money will be used to buy books for our town library next month. 

All of us had a f{#blank#}10{#/blank#} time and learnt a lot from it.  I can't wait for the next food fair. 

 Thomas was diagnosed(诊断) a serious illness. He was so sad and hoped that he refused any medical treatment. You didn't want to be a burden(负担) of his family.

 One day he {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(run) away from the hospital and hung out on the street. He was wondering{#blank#}2{#/blank#} he could do to face the hard situation. Unexpectedly, a piece of beautiful music came to {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (he) notice. An old blind man was playing {#blank#}4{#/blank#} guitar happily with a few passers-by around him. He was surprised to find there was also a mirror hangung from the blind {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(man) arm. After he finished playing, Thomas came over and asked him, "Excuse me, sir! Is this your mirror?"

"Yes, my guitar and mirror are two things I value most! Music is the {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(funny) of all things in the world." the blind mar answered. "But you can't see anything. What does this mirror mean to you?" Thomas couldn't wait {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(ask). The blind man smiled, "The mirror is a hope for me. I wish I can see my face one day."

 Thomas {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(touch) by what the blind man said. "A blind man could even love life so much, {#blank#}9{#/blank#} I..." Suddenly, he got a complete understanding and {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(quIet) returned to the hospital. From then on, Thomas realized that sunny mind mattered most in daily life
