The Chinese dragon with no wings, also known as eastern loong, is different from the dragon. It's said that loong is a lucky animal that can bring and a good year for people. Loong is considered as a symbol of power and royal dignity in ancient China. The images of loong can be seen in the Palace Museum and the Summer Palace. Every year, millions of tourists go there them as they are seen as Chinese spirits.
Two festivals loong every year in China: the Lantern Festival and the Dragon Boat Festival. On the Lantern Festival, the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, people wave dragon to celebrate the coming spring. On the Dragon Boat Festival, the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, people hold dragon boat competitions. For thousands of years, loong has been a powerful symbol in Chinese culture.
