Liu Zhihua has become a star at a ski resort（滑雪圣地）in Urumqi, Xinjiang. She is the resort's oldest skier（滑雪者）, aged 88. 

Though she is a skilled skier now, she only took up the sport when she was 72. Before that, like many old people, she spent her days taking care of her grandchildren or watching TV. Encouraged by her children, Liu got on the piste（滑雪道）for the first time in 2007. "The first day was not easy. My arms and legs were sore. But in the next few days, I was able to walk on the skis（滑雪板）. When I was not afraid of falling, I became quite interested in the sport and fell in love with it, "Liu said". I've taken part in a competition twice. I didn't do it for a prize. Finishing the competition without falling is enough for me."

For Liu, skiing is also a way to keep her young and active. Although she is the oldest ski lover at the resort, she thinks she is just as vigorous as younger skiers . Liu skis for about two hours at a time under the protection of her trainer. Although she skis less often than before, she makes up her mind to continue as long as possible. "Doing sports brings me health and happiness," she said. "I don't think age has much to do with my mind. Old or young, I'm always brave and cheerful."

I want to tell you about a very exciting holiday I had. Last December I went to the Ice Hotel with my father. It was in a village of Sweden. 

It was a special hotel made of ice and snow. I read an interesting report about this hotel in a travel magazine and I showed it to my father. He was so excited that we decided to go. 

It was like a dream. We were so surprised. Everything was made of ice. A woman at the door gave us special coats and gloves. We could use them to protect ourselves in the very cold place. There was a garden at the hotel. There we saw a lot of nice sculptures (雕塑). Some artists came to the Ice Hotel and they made them with ice. In the evening we ate at the hotel restaurant. They put the food on ice plates. We had some fantastic fish and a delicious dessert. Of course, it was ice cream!

There was a nice shop there too. I bought a sweater and a cap, but I didn't buy many things because they were very expensive. In the shop, I met a girl named Catherine. She is from France. She wanted to buy a sweater, but she didn't speak English, so I helped her. We became friends. Yesterday I got an email from her with several photos she took at the hotel. It was really a fantastic holiday.

Paris is a city with many historic buildings. But do you know that the most famous historic building in Paris is not really old at all? It's just over 100 years old. You'll find that's a spring chicken if you compare it with the Palace of Versailles. It's said that the Palace of Versailles has a history of over 300 years. Well, the building I mean is the Eiffel Tower.

Here are a few facts about the Eiffel Tower. The tower has three levels for visitors, with restaurants on the first and second levels. If you walk to the second floor, you will climb 674 steps. Gustave Eiffel's company had a permit(许可证) for the tower to stand for twenty years. But as the tower was valuable for communication purposes, the city decided to keep it. 

Now it's a symbol of Paris. It's impossible to think of Paris without thinking of this great man-made wonder. 

①Foreigners like growing flowers in the garden and enjoy the nice smell in spring. However, Chinese people prefer growing vegetables and get a harvest in autumn. For Chinese, bottles, even plastic bags are perfect for growing vegetables. 

②It's said that there is a"vegetable gene (基因)" in every Chinese people. After all, they have farmed for thousands of years and gained rich experience in growing vegetables. 

③A group of parents of Chinese students once grew vegetables at Yale University in the  USA. This area used to be covered with weeds (杂草). To help change the situation, these Chinese parents worked together and finally turned weeds into vegetables. 

④Africa is such a poor place. Many hard-working and kind-hearted Chinese workers went there to help. They helped build roads as well as taught Africans how to farm. All kinds of fruits and vegetables have been grown in Africa. 

⑤The soldiers (士兵) on the islands of the South China Sea also created a vegetable garden through their own efforts. It used to be difficult for the soldiers to eat fresh vegetables on the islands. But recently, they harvested 750kg of vegetables on sandy beaches. Everyone was excited. 

⑥With the development of the science and technology in China, Chinese people have grown vegetables all over the world, from Europe to Africa, the days of planting potatoes on Mars(火星) will not be far away. 

Walter Orthmann, a 100-year-old man from Brazil, has been working for 84 years at the same company. He broke the Guinness World Record for the longest career at the same company. 

Walter was born in 1922, in a small Brazilian town As the oldest son of five, his mother took him to find a job. He started working at the age of 15 to help his family with financial problems. He got his first job as an assistant. With amazing working skills, he became a successful sales manager at the age of 20. 

In the 1950s, Walter often went on business. He built solid relationships with his customers. His talents and abilities won their trust and support. Some of the customers even became Walter's long life friends. 

In 2022, he tumed 100, but he didn't plan to retire from the only company he had ever worked for. He celebrated his hundredth birthday in the company with his coworkers, friends and family, holding an unforgettable party, 

"When we do what we like, we don't see the time go by!"said Walter Orthmann. "I don't do much planning, nor care much about tomorrow. All I care about is that tomorrow will be another day in which I will wake up, get up, exercise, and go to work. "He suggested people should get busy with the present, not the past or the future. This is what drives him to make history!

In February, 2022, Walter Orthmann was officially recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. Looking back on his life so far, Walter described this record as his"proudest achievement",
