Joy loves exploring(探索) places on her mountain bike. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}， last month she had an experience she wants to forget. She was {#blank#}2{#/blank#} through the forest while the sun was going down. She was enjoying the beautiful colors in the sky and {#blank#}3{#/blank#} this, she didn't notice a deep hole in the ground and fell into it. What's worse, her arm was caught between two rocks. They were too {#blank#}4{#/blank#} for her to move. As a result, she couldn't get out of the hole. So she started shouting for help, but there was no {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. Night came and Joy was afraid, cold and in a lot of pain. She was too tired and decided to get some {#blank#}6{#/blank#}. But just as she was closing her eyes, she {#blank#}7{#/blank#} a car passing by. Then an idea came to her. She reached her bike with the other hand, turned {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the light and moved it around. Luckily, the driver of the car saw the light and came to see {#blank#}9{#/blank#} it was. Joy was saved {#blank#}10{#/blank#}！

Andrew has a mental illness. He doesn't speak. He had used a picture chart to communicate. The pictures stand for words—people, places, food and activities.

Years ago, Andrew's parents discovered that he could communicate more by a letter board. He could point to and spell out words and thoughts. Using the letter board needs time and effort for Andrew. He hated to use the letter board, so his parents always offered it to him.

On Andrew's 15th birthday, his mother took him to a shoe store. After buying the shoes, she said. "It's Andrew's birthday today. Fifteen! Now we're off to celebrate."

The salesmen said happy birthday to Andrew. Instead of having Andrew point to the "thank you" on his picture chart, his mother held up his letter board and asked Andrew how he'd like to respond. Andrew pointed to each letter one by one on the board— "Thank you." Andrew's mother smiled.

One of the salesmen asked what it was. "This is a letter board that Andrew uses to communicate," his mother replied. "We've practiced it for years. It's amazing. It's changed everything for us." Then the salesman told them he had a brother called Jason. "Jason is 30 and doesn't speak," he said.

"Andrew, what do you think?" his mother turned to Andrew. Andrew started pointing to letters, "Tell Jason..." She was excited. Andrew continued, "Tell Jason he will change everyone's opinion of him in 26 letters." Andrew's mother and the salesmen were all moved and happy.

Months later, Andrew's mother returned to the shoe store and learned that Jason is now using a letter board to "speak". This is how Andrew affected another person's life in a split second (瞬间).

 Last Saturday, we went to Yan' an Revolutionary Memorial Hall(延安革命纪念馆) with our teacher. We had great fun taking the bus and talking with our friends in such fi ne weather. It took us about half an hour to get there. We spent all day visiting there. I was excited to learn more about the history of this place.

 There are nine revolutionary memorial halls. Revolutionists (革命先辈) left a lot of important things there. So it is a very important revolutionary place. After listening to the guide, we knew a lot about the history and spirit (精神) of Yan' an. They are so great. I want to know more from this visit.

 In one of the halls, Ma Mei, my classmate, used her phone to take videos (视频) and photos of the old things. She wanted to show these videos to her parents. I also took some photos. I wanted to tell some stories to my younger sister, because I was really moved (感动) by Yan' an spirit. We live a happy life now because of these revolutionists, so we must show our thanks to them by studying hard for a more beautiful country.

Over 2. 300 students and teachers from two middle schools in Guyuan, Ningxia, walked to the Renshanhe Martyrs Cemetery (烈士陵园) on April 1, before Qingming Festival. 

The group started walking at about 430 a. m. They walked 27 kilometers to get to the cemetery. Although it was a little difficult for the students to walk along the mountain roads, no one fell behind (掉队). 

On the trip, the students took red flags and sang songs (歌曲) . When the girls had difficulty climbing up, the boys gave them their hands. The group arrived at the cemetery at about 10 a. m. After a few activities, the students and teachers went back to Guyuan on foot. 

To make sure all the students were safe(安全的), the two schools did many things before the long walk. " We started to let the students take physical exercise a month ago, " one teacher said. " When they did morning exercise and had P. E. classes, they practiced a lot. It was really a challenge for the students to finish the 54—kilometer trip, but everyone tried very hard to make sure they could do it. 

The schools want their students to remember the martyrs. They also want their students to keep their bodies and minds healthy by doing this activity. 

When I was ten, I realized that my elder sister was different. We were in the same school. She was so1 that she couldn't even look at people in the eye. So I never told anyone 2 that she was my sister. However, one thing happened just two years ago. It changed3 I thought of her. It also changed me. 

Just two years ago, the school asked everyone to give a show. 4 my sister was unable to work with others, she was the only one left without a group. So she had to do it 5 . "I will sing," my sister told my parents and invited me to watch it. Hearing that, I was 6 . How could my sister, who was so shy, sing in front of the school? I knew very well that if I 7 this to happen, she and I would become a joke. But she insisted (坚持).

The big day came. I sat in the seat telling myself, "It is fine. 8 knows she is your sister." The show started. My sister 9 in front of us. It took her almost a whole minute to tell her name and class! "Why is she taking so long?" People 10 me became impatient. I felt nervous seat, hoping I was somewhere else. 11 , my sister started to sing. She opened her mouth, and I couldn't believe it-she sang so12 ! It won high praise from all the students and teachers. 

At that moment, I realized that I was 13 . How could I doubt my sister's abilities? 14 filled my heart as I listened to the song. Although she knew that I was not 15 to watch her show, she still forgave me. She never took anything that I did to her to heart. It was then that I decided to love her completely.
