Recently, we did a survey about our students' ideas about what kinds of things are the most important in a friend. Here are the {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. 

We found that half of the students think a good friend should have the same hobbies {#blank#}2{#/blank#} they do. Twenty percent hope their friends to be good listeners and can make them {#blank#}3{#/blank#} when they're sad. For another twenty percent, a good friend should be {#blank#}4{#/blank#} talented in something than they are so that these friends can help bring out the best in {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. The rest of the students like good-looking people with cool clothes to be their friends. 

There is great excitement and argument over Artificial Intelligence（AI）. The argument about whether robots will replace teachers in the classroom is very heated Some people think it is sure to happen in the next ten years. Others think that the value a good teacher brings, not only to the classroom setting, but in developing a child's confidence and creativity outside lessons, cannot be easily replaced.

AI is not new for us and is already being used successfully in many fields, such as medicine, science and so on. So what does this mean for our future? In my view, AI will help kids to think more freely and creatively. Can AI possibly cut down the teaching work in the future? Of course. Our teachers are always busy preparing for their lessons. Just imagine how happy they will be if they don't have to correct hundreds of papers, but instead, have this task or others done by machines

However, most importantly, I do not believe AI will be able to imitate the human mental condition totally, especially emotional intelligence（情商）.What makes learning unforgettable is shared experience, the communication between people, and long- lasting positive relationships. For example, experienced teachers can comfort a student if he had a terrible experience. But no research shows that robots can imitate this well.

I also believe we need to develop our kids' personality and their ability not only to make decisions but also make the right decision. To achieve this, depending only on AI is impossible.

In short. AI has both its advantages and disadvantages. To what degree can teachers use AI in their classes? You can have all the information you want with the help of Al, but great teachers will also. need to depend on their own feelings.

You may know the English letters A. B and C. But do you know there are people called ABCs? Do you know there is such a thing as"a banana person"? How strange!ABC means American- born Chinese. An ABC is a Chinese, but was born in the United States. Sometimes, people call an ABC a" banana person". A banana is yellow outside. So, when a person is a" banana", he or she is white inside— thinking like a Westerner and yellow outside— looking like a Chinese.

 Usually, ABCs know little about China or the Chinese language. Some of them don't speak Chinese. But if ABCs cannot speak Chinese, can we still call them Chinese people? Yes, of course. They are overseas(海外的) Chinese. These people may be citizens(公民) of another country like the US, Canada or Singapore. But they have Chinese blood. Their parents, grandparents or even great- grandparents were from China. They all have black eyes and black hair.

 But they are not Chinese citizens. They are not people of the People's Republic of China. For example, we all know the famous scientist C. N. Yang(杨振宁). He got the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1957. Chinese people love him. But he is an American citizen.

This is Mike's room.  You can see a desk and a bed in the room. On the desk, there is a schoolbag and three books. One is a Chinese book，and the other two（另外两本）are English books. There is a clock on the desk，too. You can see a baseball under the desk.  On the bed，there is a box. What's in the box？ Oh, it's a new computer game. It's the present（礼物） for Mike.  It is Mike's birthday today.

 When cultures meet, not just their language or clothing may be different. Often their food will be{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(great) different too. People on both sides can discover new chances for trading. This text{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(tell) how some common food plants spread across the world. 

 As early as 5, 000 BC, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(potato) were traded in South America as a valuable type of food. They{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(take) to Europe in the 1500s and their use soon reached out to other parts of the continent. 

 Tea drinking started in China. By the early 1600s, trades had begun to ship tea from China to Europe. Tea drinking soon became {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(fashion) there but because {#blank#}6{#/blank#} its high price, it remained a drink for the wealthy. 

 Sugar cane was first used to produce {#blank#}7{#/blank#} kind of sweet juice over 8, 000 years ago on the island of New Guinea. Its use soon spread across South East Asia and then to the {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(wide) world. 

 Cocoa was used to make a cold, spicy drink in Central America over 3, 000 years ago. The Europeans brought it back with {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(they) in the 1520s and added sugar to make the sweet, hot drink we know today. {#blank#}10{#/blank#} it's expensive, many people still love it.
