There is a telephone on my desk. It's my good friend. It helps me a lot. My telephone number is 8445816. Sometimes when I have something to talk about with my classmates. I don't need to go out. I call them. I write down many telephone numbers of my friends. My best friend John's number is 8459471. When I can't remember my homework, I ask him by telephone. There are some "Telephone Messages" beside my telephone. When I am out, my mother writes down the massages for me.

    Charlie and his family don't always live in their house. Sometimes they live in a houseboat. There are 4 rooms in the bottom of the boat. One of them is his parents' bedroom. Another one is his bedroom. Then there is a kitchen and a bathroom. Charlie's bedroom is small, but he likes it very much. It has a small window. He doesn't open it because it's under the water. When the boat is in the water, Charlie can look out of his window and see many fish under the water. Once he saw an old car under the water. He thought it was funny to see the fish swim through the car windows.

    In the school year, Charlie's family keep their boat on the bank (岸) of the lake. In summer Charlie and his family often take their boat out to the middle of the lake. They stay on the lake for a few weeks. Then they go fishing for their food. Charlie's mother grows vegetables in pots on the boat, so they also have vegetables to eat. When it is very hot, they jump into the water and go swimming. Charlie thinks a houseboat is the best place to live in.

I am Jason. I am thirteen. My birthday is on July 15th. There are five people in my family. My mother is a clerk(职员) at a book store. She is busy but happy to sell books to students. Her birthday is on April 3rd, My father is a P.E. teacher in a middle school. He likes playing basketball. He always plays basketball with his students. Today is November 30th. It's my father's birthday. His students will play a basketball game with him. My grandmother is 57. Her birthday is on the same day as mine. She likes going to stores to buy vegetables and fruits for us. I like playing soccer, volleyball and basketball. So I am healthy. We always do things we like. We are very happy to be together.

A young man with a large bag on his back came far away for a master(大师). He said, "Master, I feel so lonely(孤独的) and painful that the long trip makes me tired out. My shoes are worn out, my feet are cut, and my hands also hurt… Why can't my heart feel sunny?"

The master asked, "What do you put in your large bag?"

The young man said,"It is very important to me. Inside it I put the pain each time I fall, the tears(眼泪) each time I'm hurt, the trouble each time I feel lonely…Without it, I can't come here."

Then the master took the young man to the river where they crossed in a boat. On the other side of the river, the master said,'"Carry on with your journey, carrying the boat!"

"What? Carry the boat?" the young man was surprised. "It is so heavy. How can I carry it?"

"Yes, my kid. You can't carry it," the master just smiled and said. "When you cross the river, the boat is useful. But after crossing it, you will put down the boat and carry on. If not, it will become a burden (负 担). Pain, loneliness and tears — all these are useful to life. They can improve your life, but if you carry them all the time, they will become the burden to life. Put it down! Life can't bear(承受) a heavy burden."

The young man put down his bag and carried on. He walked easily and happily, and much faster than before.

 My son Laurie came home at the first lunchtime from the kindergarten* and shouted," Isn't anybody here?" " How was school today?" I asked." All right," he said." Did you learn anything?" his father asked. Laurie answered coldly," I didn't learn nothing." 

" But the teacher spanked* a boy," Laurie said," For being fresh*," he added, with his mouth full." What did he do?" I asked." Who was it?" Laurie thought." It was Charles." he said.

 The next day, as soon as he sat down at lunch," Well, Charles was bad again today. He said." Today Charles hit the teacher The next few days, Laurie still came home with tons of bad stories about Charles.

 During the third and fourth weeks it looked like a change in Charles. Laurie reported kindlessly," Charles was so good today the teacher gave him an apple." " What?" I said, and my husband added unbelievably," You mean Charles?" " Charles, Laurie said." He gave the crayons around and picked up the books and the teacher said he was her helper." zksq620

" Can this be true, about Charles?" I asked my husband." Can something like this happen?" " Wait and see," my husband said cynically*. Within a week, everything was back to normal and Charles was his usual, terrible self.

" The Parent meeting's next week," I told my husband one evening." I'm going to find Charles's mother there." " Ask her what happened to Charles," my husband said." I'd like to know." " I'd like to know myself'I said.

 At the meeting, I looked over the faces of all the other mothers. None of them looked unhappy enough to be the mother of Charles. No one stood up and apologised for the way her son had been acting.

 After the meeting, I found Laurie's teacher." I' ve been wanting to meet you," I said." I'm Laurie's mother." " Oh, yes," she said." We' re all so interested in Laurie." " He certainly likes kindergarten" I said." He talks about it all the time." " He's had some trouble getting used to school," she said." But I think he' ll be all right." " Laurie usually fits in quickly, I said." I suppose his trouble might be from Charles' influence." " Charles? the teacher said." Yes, I said, laughing." You must have your hands full with Charles." " Charles?" she said." We    don't    have    any    Charles    in    kindergarten."
