When I first saw the picture on the right, I felt very moved like most people on the Internet. Let's learn about the story behind the picture first. On one afternoon in March in Guangzhou, a young man was riding an electric bike so rapidly that he hit the back of a bus. As a result, one of his hands went under the left wheel (轮子) of the bus and his head got hurt. A lot of people saw the accident and came to help lift (抬) the bus up. With the help of them and firemen, the young man finally freed from the wheel and the doctors took him to the hospital. However, what lessons (教训) can we learn from the accident?
Both bike riders and motorcyclists (骑摩托车的人) need to be more careful than other road users, because it's much easier for them to get hurt. Here is some advice on how to keep safe on the road.
·Do follow traffic rules. Pay much attention to traffic lights.
·Always wear a helmet (头盔). It can cut down the risk of getting hurt on the head in an accident.
·Don't use your phone while riding a bike or a motorbike. This is because you need to be careful with the traffic.
·Don't ride too fast, or you can't stop in time when someone suddenly appears on the road.
·Don't change your way suddenly. Always look around carefully before you start, stop or turn. This way, the drivers can know where you are going.
One more thing, check your bike or motorbike from time to time to make sure the brake (刹车) works well.
In short, we can never be too careful with road safety.
a. follow traffic rules and ride slowly
b. wear a helm et and stop using the phone while riding
c. change the way as quickly as possible
d. make sure the bike or motorbike is in good condition

Do you ever feel scared of heights? Tree climbing and outdoor activities were always a part of my childhood, but as you grow up, you lose that fearlessness (无畏). There are some moments when you get to the top of a tree and you're questioning a lot of things, but you have to calm down and don't overthink things. |
What do you like about trees? Their beauty. Every tree can tell a story. |
Do you have a favourite tree fact? How shallow (浅的) tree roots are! A lot of people think they go down deep, but they're actually shallow, only in the top metre of earth and wide spreading (延展). |
What is your favourite type of tree? One of my favourites is a paperbark maple. I've got one in my garden that I planted a few years ago. It's got this lovely rich dark brown bark. |
