Lots of students are too busy to help out with housework. So, many parents want to know if they should let their children do chores. Well, there's no need to worry. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

First, doing chores helps children learn to be independent. Parents can't stay by their children's side all the time. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} And these skills will help them be ready for the day when they go to college or take care of their own houses. 

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}When children finish a chore，they will not only take pride in（感到自豪）a job well done but also have confidence in their ability to do things well. 

Third, doing chores makes it possible for children to develop good relationships with their family, friends and partners. Doing chores together with family can make children care more about their family. And they begin to learn their responsibility in a family or a group. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}They will know that if they work together as a team, things will be finished more quickly and better.

One year, a college in the Unites States announced that it would offer a lot of money for the pure white marigold(金盏花). The high reward attracted so many people, but in the nature, besides golden, the marigold is brown, and it is not easy to get the white one. So after they were excited for a time, many people had forgotten the announcement.

One normal day after 20 years, the college received a letter and 100 seeds of pure white marigold. It turned out to be anold woman of over 70 years old. Some experts in the college doubted it , but in order not to let her down, those seedsfinally took root(根) in the earth. The miracle appeared after one year: the field was covered by pure white marigold.

Therefore, the old woman who was always unknown to the public became a newfocus.

The old woman was a flower-lover. When she read the announcement 20 years ago, she got very excited like others. But her right children were totally against her decision. After all, a woman who never knew the seed genetics(遗传学)  couldn't complete what the experts could never do, so her thought was only a daydream.

Still, the old woman didn't change her mind and went on working. She planted some of the most common seeds and took good care of them. A year later, when the marigold came out, she chose one faintest(最暗淡的) from those golden and brown flowers and get the best seed. The next year, she again grew them and chose…. Day after day, year after year, through many seasons, the old woman's husband died, her children flew far and high, a lot of things happened in her life, but only the desire to grow the pure white marigold took root in her heart.

Finally, after 20 years on the day we all know, in the gardenshe saw a marigold which was not nearly white, but as white as sliver or snow.

A problem even experts couldn't deal with was solved by an old woman who didn't understand genetics. Wasn't it a miracle?

To take root in the heart, even the most common seed can grow into a miracle!

①Winter can be a hard time for animals. The weather may be very cold. Food can be hard to find under the snow. How do animals live in this season? Let's have a look. 

②In autumn, when the weather gets cool, some animals go away from cold places. Some birds fly south together. They move south because the weather there is warm and food there is easy to find. When spring comes, they will return. 

③Many animals store(储存) food before the cold days. That is what a pika(鼠兔) does. A pika looks a little like a rabbit, but with short ears. Pikas live in high mountains where winters are long and cold. In summer, they prepare lots of grass to eat in winter. By the end of summer, a pika may store about 22 kilos of grass. 

④Some animals change themselves to live in winter, like snowshoe rabbits in America. In summer, the rabbits' fur is brown. But they grow new, white fur in winter. The new fur keeps them safe in the snow. In autumn, they eat to get fat(脂肪), because the fat can also help them keep warm in winter. 

⑤Other animals sleep all winter long and don't eat at all. Before winter, these animals eat a lot to grow fat. When winter comes, they go to sleep. Black bears in cold areas make warm beds to sleep in. Some of them can sleep for seven months. By the time spring comes, they have lost most of their fat. 

It may surprise you to know that at every Olympic Games, some sports are added and others taken away. For example, did you know that tug-of-war was once an Olympic sport? It was dropped long ago though. In London 2012, women's boxing was added. In Rio 2016, golf and rugby sevens were included. Baseball and softball were dropped after Beijing 2008, but returned for Tokyo 2020. Another sport that got approved for Tokyo 2020 was climbing. One sport that isn't on the list of Olympic Games, is trampoline dodgeball (蹦床躲避球). Both climbing and trampoline dodgeball are popular with teens. That's because you don't need to invest in lots of expensive equipment. The following is more related information about them.

Dodgeball is a team game in which players throw balls at each other. The objective is to beat the opposing team's players by hitting them with a ball, catching a ball (the thrower is out), or forcing a player out of the court. In trampoline dodgeball, the game is the same but takes place on a court made out of trampolines. The court has a bouncy floor and high bouncy walls. It's surrounded by nets to catch the balls. The action is fast and fun, and you'll always have a soft landing if you fall!

When might trampoline dodgeball be an Olympic sport? Nobody knows! New sports must fulfil many strict rules before they're accepted. For example, trampoline dodgeball will need to have one set of rules that everyone follows. This includes playing in the same-sized court using the same type of ball.

Today, the teacher took us to the science and technology museum. What impressed me most was the Optical Astronomy Hall. 

After entering the Optical Astronomy Hall, the narrator(讲解员) turned on the light. We looked up and saw millions of lights flashing(闪耀) overhead. They looked like the stars in the sky. Then the narrator told us about constellations(星座). She said that the constellation refers to a group of stars in the sky that we see close to each other. And she told us how the stars and planets change places throughout(贯穿) the night. 

 ▲   The sky was lit up with millions of stars. The narrator pointed to one group of stars called the Big Dipper(北斗七星). The Big Dipper goes around the North Star. The North Star always points to the north if you can find it, you will always know where you are.
