We have a colorful life at school. There are different {#blank#}1{#/blank#}of activities, such as football, baseball, swimming and cycling. As for me, I like swimming best. My father is a PE teacher. When I was a child, I often {#blank#}2{#/blank#}swimming with him. We enjoyed ourselves in the swimming pool. We both thought it was fun. Dad taught me {#blank#}3{#/blank#}to swim. I kept practicing swimming every day and I learned a lot from {#blank#}4{#/blank#}.

Young star shines

Over the years, skilled Chinese players have been doing very well in table tennis. Now, young athletes from Generation Z are becoming the stars of the 2024 Paris Olympics. 

Born in 2000, Sun Yingsha has been given the nickname "Little Devil" by her fans. When she was little, Sun was sensitive to the sound of a table tennis ball hitting the ground. "I felt I had some talent," she told China Daily. 

When Sun first joined the reserve squad (预备队) of the national table tennis team, she was excited. Becoming a world top player like her idol Zhang Yining has always been her dream. 

However, there have been challenges along the way. She took part in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and it was there that she faced huge losses. "I was not well- rounded enough to win the gold medal in the women's singles," Sun said. 

Sun believes that life is always full of ups and downs. "Determination and courage can make a good athlete," she said. "What keeps me going are the goals and dreams I set for myself,"

At the 2023 Singapore Smash, Sun won the women's singles, the women's doubles and the mixed doubles, becoming the first athlete to get three gold medals at the tournament (锦标赛) . Looking at the world ranking website, you can see Sun's name at the top of the women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. 

When talking about younger table tennis players, Sun encourages them to keep their love and stay focused. "If you truly love table tennis, I hope you can hold on to it," she said. 

In an old building in Peking University, a yellow light sh one into the old and dark hours of the night. The famous translator(翻译家) Xu Yuanchong {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(sit) behind the window and looking at the computer screen. He enjoyed working by {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(he) from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am. For him, the quiet night was a {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(value) time to do translation. He was thinking about how {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(spread) Chinese culture abroad by translating Chinese beauty into Western beauty. 

Xu was born into a literary(文学的) family in Nanchang {#blank#}5{#/blank#} 18th April, 1921. When he was little, he {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(influence) by his mother who was interested in literature. Xu began to translate Chinese poetry into both English and {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(France) when he was still a teenager. He soon learnt that Chinese and European languages were very different. Only about half of the words in these languages could be translated word-for-word. This is why translators should have {#blank#}8{#/blank#} creative mind. They are always trying to improve their translations to make sure they are correct and beautiful. 

Xu has been dead, but his motto — Good, better, best — still influence many people. Never let it rest. Till your good is better and your better is best. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} Xu was widely considered to be the best, he never stopped trying to become better. 

 The more you learn and the {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(hard) you study, the better you will become. There is always room for improvement.
