Most of us find that smartphones have made our lives better. Almost all of us{#blank#}1{#/blank#} our smartphones within arm's reach during waking hours, and most of us do so when we sleep. What will happen {#blank#}2{#/blank#} we live without the smartphones?

In 2022, My family moved into a small village house. There was no Wi- Fi. It was my first time to taste the joy of a life. We learned to make {#blank#}3{#/blank#} use of time. We also realized that days lacking of digital product(数码产品) made time slow down and{#blank#}4{#/blank#} the quality(质量) of our time together. We could find a quiet place to sleep, cook simple {#blank#}5{#/blank#} to eat and enjoy the countryside views. The smartphone is just a tool. Without it, the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} seemed to more relaxing.

In England, the government advised schools to {#blank#}7{#/blank#} out complete bans(禁令) on smartph one use. That was {#blank#}8{#/blank#} used by some American schools. Some Americans are changing their smartphones into old- fashioned {#blank#}9{#/blank#}. Most people can set free time to play {#blank#}10{#/blank#} their family. It shows us that we can also live happily without smartphones.

I' ve never been late for school, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} this morning I came very close. When I got out of home, the early bus had left away just in front of me. Seeing the gone bus, I ran after  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} at once, hoping to catch it. At {#blank#}3{#/blank#} same time, I shouted" Wait! Wait!", but the bus didn't stop— it was clear that the bus driver didn't hear me. Realizing that I might be late for school, I became really worried. Time went by and you could imagine (想象) {#blank#}4{#/blank#} sad I was! A moment later, there came another bus. It was a" wrong" bus. I had no {#blank#}5{#/blank#}( choose) but to get on it because they were in the same direction. I asked the driver if he could drive faster and help me to catch the front bus which I missed just now. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} my surprise, the kind driver agreed and said he would have a try. {#blank#}7{#/blank#}( luck), the front bus had a stop halfway {#blank#}8{#/blank#} some passengers wanted to get off. The two buses met finally. . . I happily thanked the bus driver and jumped down from the bus as {#blank#}9{#/blank#}( quick) as possible. I made it! What a(n) {#blank#}10{#/blank#}( usual) and tiring bus ride!

In some parts of the world, children don't have enough food to eat or enough money to buy clothes or shoes. Every year at Sunshine Middle School, we do something to collect money for these children. This year we will have a Market Day. 

The Market Day will fall on July 8. We are going to make the student center at our school look just like a big shopping center! People can come at any time from 9:00 a. m. to 5:00 p. m. and buy every- thing from clothes to books, cakes and flowers. 

Luckily for us, many volunteers (志愿者) will help prepare for the big event. Last year, Ms. Grant and Ms. Ali made some wonderful cakes for our charity. They will do it again this year. Bill Thomas will visit Bookworm Bookshop and Mel's Music Shop and ask them to give us things that we can sell at the event. Philip White will e- mail all the teachers and ask them to come to our event. Alice Brow n will put a message online telling the public the event is open to everyone. 

However, there is more to do, and we need your help. We want you to give us things that we can sell- books, old clothes, anything that we can sell to collect money for poor children. We also need some student volunteers to sell the things we get on Market Day. 

With your help, we will certainly have a successful Market Day!

Last semester, I joined the school's Geography Club, and it has been an exciting journey! In the club, we have various activities like solving puzzles and d{#blank#}1{#/blank#} skills like map reading. Our club members are a group of energetic t{#blank#}2{#/blank#} who love exploring（探索）the world.

One of our recent projects was creating a p{#blank#}3{#/blank#} on "The Wonders of the World?" . We worked in groups, and I was lucky enough to be in a good team. We researched（研究），designed, and finally showed it, which received a lot of praise from our club members.

During our meetings, we also p{#blank#}4{#/blank#} for quiz competitions. It's rocky, but when we celebrate our s{#blank#}5{#/blank#}, it feels just amazing. Our club leader always says, "Mind the geography, and you'll go places!"

①Do video games do harm to our children? Today many children spend a lot of their free time playing games on the Internet. In the UK,99% of kids aged 8 to 15 play video games every week. This information tells us that the benefits and dangers of video games must be carefully considered.

②For many people, video games are fun. They have bright lights, funny cartoons and exciting stories. Everywhere you look, you can see children playing these games. They play on buses and trains, in restaurants and even at school.

③Video games are educational too. They make kids think in a creative way and they have to move their hand and eyes quickly. This can improve the way that a child's brain works. What's more, video games make children use their imagination. The player has to do many creative things, like drawing, telling stories and building things. Video games are also a good way to teach children about technology because they can learn how computers and other devices work while they play.

④However,a recent study suggests that video games can also be bad for children. First, children can download many games for free. This means that parents often don't know if their children are playing violent or scary games. Second, many children spend too much time playing games on computers and this can lead to health problems. Third, if children spend too much time playing games rather than doing thei homework, they can have problems at school and get bad grades. Finally, video games can affect children' social skills. If children spend too much time playing video games by themselves, they might not learn how to play with their friends.

⑤All in all, it seems clear that video games have some advantages and some disadvantages. It is up to parents to know what games their children are playing and how much time they spend on them. Parent: should also make sure their children get enough exercise and spend time with other children.

My parents took me to Japan when I was little. I lived there for five years. When I came back, my Japanese was very good. "Can I do something {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (use) with my Japanese?" I asked myself. 

Then, one day last summer, my father {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (bring) me a Japanese book. "{#blank#}3{#/blank#} don't you translate(翻译) it into Chinese? It will be better than playing computer games all day." I promised(许诺) and planned {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(do) 2000 words each day before playing computer games or going out. 

But soon I found it was hard to keep the promise. One day, the weather was beautiful. A friend of mine {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (call) me to go out to play football. But I couldn't. Those 2000 words were still waiting for me. After translating only three pages, I already lost interest {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the book. I looked at it for a long time. But I could {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (hard) make myself turn the pages. How I wish I could just go outside and play football with my friends! I counted the words again and again. I just wanted to give up. I felt as if two people were fighting in my mind. One said, "Don't give up! Keep working hard {#blank#}8{#/blank#} you'll do well!" But then the other one said, "Go and play! It will be more fun {#blank#}9{#/blank#} translating. Do your work tomorrow." I stood up and would turn off the computer. But then I remembered what my parents had told me: "Whatever you do, don't stop halfway." So I sat down and went on with it. After 3 hours, I finally finished my translation. Now, I often look back on those days, and I always think that it was the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (meaningful) thing that I did last summer.
