Last week our school held a sports meet. Everyone in our class felt very e{#blank#}1{#/blank#} because we won. In the boys' relay race, Michael ran very fast and our class w{#blank#}2{#/blank#} the first place. Yu Ting is good{#blank#}3{#/blank#} the long jump and she also got the first place. We' re sorry that we did badly in the high jump, but we' re sure we will do better next time.

It{#blank#}4{#/blank#} part in the boys'400- meter race. I did my best and was the first to cross the line. Now I love sports more. I want to be a soccer player. I will do more e{#blank#}5{#/blank#} every day and I hope someday I' ll be able to take part in the Olympic Games.

Mum and I were just going out when it began to rain. We had to stay at home, and I {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (feel) quite bored. Mum got an idea. She suggested {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (teach) me to make dumplings. I thought it could be fun, so I said OK. Mum cut the meat and cabbages into small pieces {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (quick) . Then she showed me how to mix them with salt and oil. "Mixing is the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (important) of all the steps," she said. I also made some other {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (prepare) with her help. When everything was ready, Dad came back home from his office. Together the three of {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (we) wrapped (包) the dumplings. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (final) , we cooked them. They were so delicious that I ate {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (many) than twenty. That was the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (one) time I learnt to make dumplings. It was {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (enjoy) ! I will learn more life skills in the future. 

① The first wonderful Chinese garden in the English city of Cambridge was open during the fourth annual (年度的) Cambridge Xu Zhimo Poetry (诗歌) and Art Festival.

② The China-UK Friendship Garden is also known as Xu Zhimo Garden. People build this garden to remember the late Chinese poet Xu Zhimo, an associate member (准成员) of King's College from 1921 to 1922. 

③ In 1928, after Xu's third visit to the English city, he wrote the poem Second Farewell to Cambridge (《再别康桥》). It is very famous and popular not only in China but also all over the world. This poem shows his true love for Cambridge, as well as his own thoughts and feelings about his first love. 

④ The poem's first and last lines have been carved (雕刻) into a granite stone (花岗岩). Since the garden opened, it has become one of Cambridge's most popular places. 

⑤ Steven Coghill is a gardener at King's College. And he first brought out the idea to create the Xu Zhimo Garden. It took him 3 years to plan and build the garden, and it has many trees and flowers that grow naturally in Zhejiang Province. Steven Coghill wants to build a garden to remember Xu Zhimo, because he really has a deep love for Chinese culture and Xu's poems.

Hello, welcome to Shirley's Time! Have you ever heard of Alyssa? Alyssa is 1 astronaut. She was chosen to be the first person to land on Mars by NASA in 2021 at the age of 17. She may2 to Mars in 2033 and never come back to the earth. So 3 father is a little worried. He thinks that Mars may be a very dangerous place. Alyssa 4 the earth in the future.

Alyssa explained why she dreamed 5 being an astronaut in a recent interview. She said, "Well, I first wanted 6 an astronaut from watching a cartoon called The Backyardigans when I was three. In the cartoon, the characters flew to Mars. " After that, the girl just kept asking for videos, books and anything she could find about space. And her parents have always given her love and support.

Alyssa has always been working very 7 for her dream. She went to an expensive space school to get training. Studying there isn't always easy. It needs to pass a lot of tests like floating (漂浮) in the air. At first she felt sick in her stomach, 8 later she got used to it. Finally, she made it to be an astronaut. 9 wonderful she was! From what she said, we also knew 10 Alyssa enjoyed speaking in public and talking to the girls who wanted to be astronauts.

My father died when I was five. It was hard on us all. My brother, who is eight years older than me, began to take care of my mother and me. 

He took on more responsibilities. I remember he made sure the rubbish was taken out, and the yard was cleaned. He did all on his own, without being told to do so. 

Because of my father's death, Mom had to get a full-time job. Brother would get me up for school and make me breakfast. While I was eating, he would lay out my clothes, make my bed, and gather my school books up. 

Hand in hand we would walk to the bus stop. As we waited, he would play games my father used to play with me. When we returned from school, we were alone for about half an hour, until Mom got home from work. Before I did my homework, he would sit me down with three cookies and a glass of milk. Then he would prepare something for Mom to cook dinner. 

Mom would greet us with a hug and kiss. This was our time to have some fun outside. This was my brother's time to be a kid. 

One Saturday in June several years later, my mother and I were at a store where the Father's Day cards were sold. I stared at the cards. Mom said, "Cindy, I know this is hard time for you. "

"No, Mom. That's not it. Why don't they have Brother's Day cards?"

She smiled, "You're right. Your brother has exactly been a father to you. Go ahead to choose a card. "

I did so, and on that Father's Day, my mother and I sat my brother down and gave him the card. 

As he read it, I saw the tears in his eyes. Mom said, "Son, your father is proud of you, seeing that he raised a good man, and that you do   your best to fill his shoes. We love you and thank you. "
