IMAX films

3-D films
3-D films are not new. They first appeared in 1903. The inventors wanted viewers to feel like they were really inside the movie they were watching! When you watch a 3-D movie, you feel as if the people on the screen are close enough to touch and that the airplane flying at you is flying right off the screen.
{#blank#}4{#/blank#} Usually, one side of the glasses is red and the other is light blue. If you look at the image below with these special glasses, you'll see the 3-D effect.
A. This is why most IMAX films are only about 40–60 minutes long. B. You can also stand up if you like. C. This is repeated at least 12 times to make one second of film! D. You don't look at a screen in front of you. E. To watch 3-D films, you must wear special glasses. |
Want to be a football coach, a policeman or a model? If you could do any job for a day, what would it be? Takeover Day offers young people this chance.
Takeover Day is for young people to "take over" the day from adults (成年人). It gives young people experience in different kinds of jobs. Adults can also learn from young people's fresh ideas.
Here's what the students say about their Takeover Day.
Simon, 13, went to Coventry Football Club. He became a football coach for a day, "Having a try at training players was an unforgettable experience," said Simon. "If I have the chance, I will do this job every day." |
Sally, 15, became the head teacher of her school. "So many meetings! We even had no time for lunch." she said. But Sally thinks she learned a lot. "My favourite part of the day was meeting the school cook and improving the school menus (菜单) for the week. It was a great chance to tell her what we really like eating!" |
Paul, 14, spent the day with a doctor. Paul thought, " If everyone has the chance to follow a model for a day, they will be surprised." "They nearly worked for 20 hours a day," he said. |
