Bob was only seven years old. One night Bob was at home {#blank#}1{#/blank#} while his parents were out for a party. He had often stayed alone before, so he wasn't afraid. As he waited for his parents to {#blank#}2{#/blank#} home, he watched a film on TV. His eyes became heavier and heavier as time {#blank#}3{#/blank#} by.

      Suddenly Bob's eyes opened wide-what was the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} in the next room? Bob heard the window being opened slowly. For a minute, Bob was so {#blank#}5{#/blank#} that he could not move, and his body felt like ice. He knew that he couldn't lose his head (惊慌失措) and began to think of the things he could do. Again he heard the sound of someone trying to climb into his home {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the window.

      Bob's drums were standing in the corner near the TV. "Wait, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} there is something I can do," thought Bob. He {#blank#}8{#/blank#} on his drums as hard as he could. The sound was so terrible that Bob {#blank#}9{#/blank#} even himself. He also surprised the man in the window, who {#blank#}10{#/blank#} away as fast as possible. How clever he was!

Twenty years ago, I drove a taxi for a living. One time in the middle of the night, an old lady in her 80s1 my taxi. She gave me an address, and then asked: "Could you drive through downtown?"

"It's not the shortest way," I answered quickly.

"Oh, I don't2 ," she said. "I'm in no hurry. I'm on my way to a hospice (临终关怀医院).

I don't have any family left. The doctor says I don't have very long."

Hello, friends! My name is Susan. I'm twelve years old and I live in Alton. I would like to talk about my future ideas. When I grow up, I want to be a vet(兽医). Because I like animals. I have two cats, one dog and some fish at home. They are very cute. My favorite TV show is about nature. I often go to the zoo with my parents. There's a museum of nature near my home. I go there every weekend. 

When I leave school, I think I'll go to university and I'll learn how to look after animals. Later I think I'll work at a zoo. I don't want to get married(结婚) too soon, so I think I'll wait until I'm thirty. I don't want to be rich or famous, but I want to be happy. I hope my husband will be a friendly and handsome man. I hope I'll have two lovely girls, too. 

I think that the world will be hardly the same. Most of us will probably drive electric(电动的) cars and there will be very smart robots in our life. I think I'll live in a big city. 

I think life will be easier and people will live longer. We'll care more about nature and animals.

Uncle Alm looks not so happy because he doesn't want Heidi to live with him. He says in a 1 voice, "Take your things and come with me." Then he opens the door and Heidi 2 him into the house. "Where am I going to sleep, Grandpa?" Heidi asks. "Wherever you want."

Heidi 3 and sees a ladder (梯子) next to the grandpa's bed. She climbs up and 4 a hayloft (干草棚). There is much ha y in it. 5 a small window, she can look down very far. "I want to 6 here. It's lovely. Please come up, Grandpa," she calls down. Uncle Alm feels a little different 7 no kid calls him "Grandpa" like Heidi.

The grandpa says, "The sun will laugh at you if he sees how 11 you are. Go and wash yourself first. And 12 is ready for you."

Heidi washes her face and hands, and then finishes her breakfast. "I'm leaving, Grandpa. "

"Please wait." Uncle Alm puts some pieces of 13 and some cheese into Heidi's bag. Then he says to Peter, "This is for your lunch, kid. Please 14 Heidi well."

Heidi and Peter walk up to the pasture. "Such a nice day!15 sky (天空), fresh air and green grass!" Heidi shouts happily. She even forgets Peter and runs far. 

When I was a boy, every holiday that I had seemed wonderful. My parents took me by train or by car to a hotel by the 1 . I seem to remember I 2  on the sands with some other children all day. We were strangely 3 . We made houses and gardens, and 4  the tide(潮水) destroy them. When the tide went out, we climbed over the rocks and 5  the fish in the rock pools.
